Grant: No Update From Rangers On Dave Barnett Right Now

From Evan:

A couple of additional things that have come to light in the last few hours:

● I didn't directly hear this, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but the morning Musers on the Ticket apparently said that Dave Barnett suffered some sort of head trauma during a fall this past off-season. Disturbing.

● In the comments on the last Barnett post, there have been some mentions about Barnett sounding strange at a few other points during the eighth inning, including something from Barnett about Craig Gentry "acquiring" Carlos Quentin ... I'll have to roll back on that audio.

● Evan also has this:

● Sean Bass on BaD Radio reminds us of an incident earlier this season where Barnett ended up being replaced at the last minute by Steve Busby on the TV side, and was out for an entire game ... that may have simply been a case of Barnett being ill, but I wonder if that was at all related to the off-season head trauma.

I'm not sure what to say about Barnett's role in the broadcast booth at this point, but if he's not 100 percent, if what happened last night was tied to his off-season fall, then his medical situation clearly needs to be dealt with in full before going back to work. I would also say that it's now pretty evident that there's no humor at all in this situation ... Barnett is a man with a wife and kids, and head injuries are extremely serious stuff.
