Wilson: Rangers Offer Contract To Roy Oswalt; Oswalt "Balks"

I'll turn this into a more expansive post and/or front-page it at some point tomorrow, but I just noticed this update on Roy Oswalt and the Rangers pop into my RSS reader, courtesy of the Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson

As long as free agent Roy Oswalt remains unsigned and set-up man Alexi Ogando remains in the Texas Rangers' bullpen, Scott Feldman will continue to fill the rotation spot created by an elbow injury to right-hander Neftali Feliz.

Oswalt has balked at an initial contract offer from the Rangers because the deal was worth far less than he is willing to accept, said a major league source.

This conforms with the increasing amount of chatter about Oswalt wanting to squeeze every possible dollar out of his market value as possible ... Ken Rosenthal's update earlier today noted that the Dodgers checked in on Oswalt, but were put off by what they felt was an "excessive" asking price.
