Major squall line with embedded pockets of rotation closing in on the DFW area. Delay of 30-60 minutes confirmed and it's my suspicion that we won't see this game get underway until at least 8:30 p.m. CST.
Tornado sirens are reportedly sounding in areas of north Tarrant County, including Keller. Tornado sighted in Roanake area per KDFW FOX 4...I think this will be more of a straight-line wind/hail event in the immediate vicinity of the Ballpark, but judging by the wind estimates damage could ensue.
Tornado reported on the ground near Flower Mound according to the NWS, moving at 50 mph (which makes advance warnings more difficult, given the ground speed). New tornado warning in effect that encompasses Grapevine/Richardson/Plano/Allen/Richardson/Rockwall.
Tornado sirens now sounding in downtown Fort Worth, per FOX 4's Dan Henry.
Power flashes reportedly sighted near Grapevine, a potential indication of straight-line winds or some sort of tornadic circulation (more likely the former). 70 mph winds reported in Southlake.
Sirens sounding in Denton. 75 mph wind gust reported at I-35 in Denton. Spotters reporting a tornado on the ground near Hebron (a smidge northwest of Carrollton).
My wife just text me and said the sirens are going off in Oak Cliff as well.
Tornado reported on the ground near Plano at 7:16 p.m. CST. Chuck Morgan made the announcement at approximately 6:30 p.m. for fans to come down to the lower concourse for shelter with tornadoes in the vicinity and right now it's difficult to see even across the Ballpark with the heaviness of the rain.
Given the relative position of this storm system and the presumed inundated state of the field, this might be closer to a 9:00 p.m. start. Just a hunch.
Among the numerous damage reports throughout DFW is a report that the roof has been ripped off an apartment building in Flower Mound.
9:00 p.m. CST start might actually be a tad too aggressive now...9:15 p.m., anybody? No off-days until Monday.
Game called, moved to 9/1
Damn. Thanks Kevin.
And the tree just fell on my car, so i guess its time to turn off the computer.
GN all.
