Wilson: Dave Barnett To Undergo Testing, Will Miss Next Two Games

From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson, among others:

So, yeah, it's good to see this being proactively handled after what occurred last night (where Barnett began incoherently chattering about 'fifth base' and a 'botched robbery' and 'henchmen' during the eighth inning), and especially after the previously unreported revelation that he suffered a fall this past off-season and incurred a head injury ... and, hopefully, the medical evaluation on Barnett doesn't turn up anything of a serious long-term nature, and he's able to return to the television booth fairly quickly. Here's the official statement from the Rangers, via Evan Grant:

"Texas Rangers television play-by-play announcer Dave Barnett will miss the final two games of the team's series in San Diego. He will undergo an evaluation over the next few days after experiencing on-air issues in the eighth inning of Monday's game with what Barnett believes to be the recurrence of migraine headaches.

Rangers radio announcer Steve Busby will handle the television play-by-play duties on Tuesday and Wednesday, working with Tom Grieve. Rangers pre and post-game radio host Bryan Dolgin will join Eric Nadel on the radio broadcasts for the rest of the series.

The Rangers will have no further comment and appreciate everyone respecting Dave Barnett's privacy at this time."

Here, for the record, is the unedited raw audio of the entire bottom of the eighth inning from last night's game:

I would suggest, after having re-listened to the audio, that there is more than one spot where Barnett sounds a bit 'off' than the part where he ends up having to be cut off, but if you're so inclined to decide for yourself, well, there's the audio.
