It's A Hard Knock Life ... For Julio

I still don't have any time to write until tonight, but I thought this was a pretty noteworthy bit of roster news:

Pour out your forty-ouncers for Julio Borbon, I guess. Gonzalez will function as the team's utility infielder (though that may not entail much beyond backing up Elvis Andrus, given Michael Young's likely superutility role), Gentry will be the do-everything fourth outfielder who hopefully keeps David Murphy off the field against left-handers, and Snyder will be the ... uh ... well, I'm not sure. In theory, at least, Snyder is a four-corners guy who can serve as an emergency third catcher, and I guess that holds some appeal to the Rangers, but the overarching problem is that Snyder brandishes a pretty marginal bat, and is thusly more of an insurance policy than somebody who can actually be expected to generate value from the back end of the roster.
