Tuesday Morning Rangers Notes: Yu Darvish, Act II

Well, here are a few quick things dangling out there today after my strange night:

● Yu Darvish will make his second Cactus League start today against the Indians, in a game televised on MLB Network/MLB.tv and broadcast via MLB.com webstream; Darvish is expected to log three innings or 50 pitches, after which I presume he'll be mobbed by reporters and perhaps be fortunate enough to have some of his post-game remarks misinterpreted again (MLB.com)

● Per T.R. Sullivan, Julio Borbon and Michael Kirkman have been among the most impressive players in camp thus far, and while it's unclear what that may spell as far as the center field competition is concerned (where Craig Gentry was thought to be the front-runner, with the door still being very much open for Josh Hamilton to grab significant playing time), Kirkman seems to be the front-runner for the sole lefty reliever spot in the bullpen, with the Rangers' belief that he can retire batters from either side of the plate giving him an advantage over his more LOOGY-esque competition such as Neal Cotts, Joe Beimel, and Mitch Stetter (MLB.com)

● Evan Grant suggests that instead of making Josh Hamilton the No. 1 signing priority, the Rangers should push to sign Michael Young to a two-year extension worth roughly $7-8 million per season for the 2014-15 seasons, and attempt to leverage that into keeping as much of the team's core together as possible (Dallas Morning News
