Monday Morning Open Thread: Four Questions
Doesn't this picture just make you want to go over and give poor Julio a great big hug?1. Off the very top of your head, tell me what you think the Rangers' center field playing time distribution will look like this season (in percentages). Your list of choices includes Josh Hamilton, Craig Gentry, Julio Borbon, Leonys Martin, emergency options David Murphy and Nelson Cruz (hopefully we don't end up having to go down that path), and that extreme long-shot possibility where David Hulse is coaxed out of retirement after everybody else is taken out in a thresher maw accident.
2. Rank the Rangers' four primary broadcasters -- Dave Barnett, Steve Busby, Tom Grieve, and Eric Nadel -- in terms of who you believe will be the first to depart the organization. For example, if you felt Barnett would be the first to resign/be fired, and Busby the last, you'd list Barnett first and Busby last, and then you'd try to figure out why on earth you weren't listing Nadel last instead.
3. In the Sunday morning edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Randy Galloway cites one "member of the Rangers' family" who believes that the Neftali Feliz-to-the-rotation experiment is doomed to failure yet again because he still has "no secondary pitches to consistently depend on," but then cites another source who likes Feliz's chances because of his willingness to utilize his change-up and slider thus far this spring, and finally quotes an unwaveringly confident Ron Washington who does, of course, believe that Feliz can pull it off.
I'm assuming that most of the commentariat here believes Feliz will eventually settle in as a capable big league starter, so let's put a twist on this two-part question: (a) Do you believe a point will be reached this year where Feliz struggles enough to generate a serious conversation about whether he should be removed from the rotation, and (b) if you answered yes, what is your gut feeling on how the organization will handle such a dilemma?
4. What, if anything, do you want to see changed/improved upon as far as the Ballpark experience is concerned this season? Or did the Rangers meet each and every one of your expectations during your excursions to the Ballpark last year?
