Friday Morning Rangers Notes: Overreaction Friday
Some assorted bullet points for you and yours:
- The Rangers will reassess their rotation plans during a "pitching summit" on Sunday, during which they'll decide whether to use Monday's off day as a chance to give the entire rotation six days of rest, drop in a spot start by a sixth starter (presumably Scott Feldman), and/or rearrange the rotation itself; apparently, Matt Harrison's hint at being tired -- which came in the form of him mentioning that his legs "felt heavy" before Wednesday's ugly start-- caused Ron Washington to bristle: "Everybody that’s playing the game at this time of the year has some type of fatigue. Fatigue isn’t anything you talk about. If that becomes a part of your mental state, you’re in trouble." (Gerry Fraley, Dallas Morning News)
- C.J. Wilson on remaining in Arlington for the long haul: "I pitch well in this park. Why wouldn't I want to be here? I pitch for a team that scores runs. What pitcher doesn't want that situation? ... I pitch for a team that went to the World Series last season and, when you look at the overall commitment of the organization, it's a team that will continue to be in contention for that. ... I also love the guys in this clubhouse. If you add up everything, all the positives, why wouldn't I want to pitch here?" Additionally, Randy Galloway speculates that the Rangers' offer to C.J. Wilson back during spring training maxed out at three years, $35 million, while Wilson was seeking five years, $75 million (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
