Monday Morning Open Thread: Four Questions
"My mechanics are off, for sure. ... I threw 80-something pitches with about 40 different deliveries." - C.J. Wilson after his Sunday start1. Grade the work of general manager Jon Daniels and the Rangers' front-office brain trust at this year's trade deadline. Should they have gone further in trying to pick up a right-handed outfield bat, or gone super-nuts and paid the extremely heavy asking price for a front-end starting pitcher? Or was this the best bit of work that could have reasonably been done?
2. Rank Chris Davis, Tommy Hunter, Robbie Erlin, and Joe Wieland on the bite-you-in-the-rear scale; that is to say, rank the player that you think the Rangers will eventually come to regret trading away the most, then the one that they'll regret trading away the second-most, and so on and so forth.
3. A two-part question: (a) What would it take for Neftali Feliz to lose his ninth-inning gig yet this season during the lead-up to a (hopefully protracted) post-season run, and (b) at this moment, given the acquisitions of Koji Uehara and Mike Adams, do you expect to see the Rangers give Feliz a second serious trial run as a starting pitcher during spring training next year?
4. If the playoffs began tomorrow, how would you set up your four-man starting rotation and bullpen?
