I think it was a good idea to sign Lewis.

I was about to pee my pants in the 8th inning. No joke.

Colby!

Great at bat by Moreland. Loved the Josh solo shot. Wish they had run Elvis some though.

I want Cliff Lee in Game 4

October 30, 2010 at 9:50 PM | Unregistered CommenterZach

Why wasn't Feliz ready at the top of the 8th to pitch? And why, oh why, do the Rangers let perfectly good pitches go over the plate without swinging at them?

October 30, 2010 at 9:51 PM | Unregistered CommenterFran

Nice game. Did FOX show enough tense and worried fans? Wow.
Good point about Elvis not running enough...got to put him in motion more to eliminate so many double plays.
Cliff in Game 4 and 7 would be awesome but ain't gonna happen now.
What percentage of fans will be in costume tomorrow night....didn't see many real antlers tonight...must be cracking down because of liability?

I loved the game. Moreland looks solid and has hit at every level. He fought off some good pitches from a lefty before he got that one he could work with. Mitch is no Tex with the glove, but he isn't bad, either. I think he could be here for a while.

Neftali was blowing pure heat in the 9th. That was a fun win.

I like it when the Rangers win - not so much when they lose.

I agree that Elvis should've been running, MY grounded into two double plays in a row. Nice game overall but we've gotta capitalize a little better, it seemed like there were many wasted opportunities. Colby has been the best FA signing of the year. Not the most overpowering pitcher in the playoffs, or even on his own team, but he's got a set of stones on him like a true workhorse should. What an effort.

This was the game to restore sanity...and/or fear.

Right back in this bitch. Win tomorrow and the Giants pucker up. It's Time

October 30, 2010 at 10:48 PM | Unregistered CommenterAdam

I see Colby Lewis coming back in 4 in the 1st game back in SF to Win or to Tie. What ever Hunter does on Sunday, I see Lee wining on Monday. I think Cj is toast for this WS. If Wilson tries to cover the blister then Bochy will get him for using a foreign substance. It's Lewis and Lee to Three. Unless Hunter lives up to his handle of "BIG GAME!!"

October 30, 2010 at 10:49 PM | Unregistered CommenterTom b

This one could have been blown open, but the Giants battled back to at least make it a game. I think they'll have a little more momentum going into tomorrow now that they've been in Texas for more than a day.

With that being said the Rangers looked solid tonight, no real mistakes.

Call me crazy, but I did some calculations and every World Series goes more than three games...

And, again, according to calculations, after three games, a World Series cannot be any closer than two games to one. Two in our yard...two in ours and a close series...Rangers do what they do...

Ridiculous how Ron Ron gets credit for putting moreland in the lineup....he should be batting cleanup jackass, not in front of pitchers, not behind a slow as molasses catcher who grounds into inning ending double plays, nor 9th where he is guaranteed to get the least atbats of anyone on the team. It is clear he is dumb, luckily our talent and pat barrel being allowed to bat in the 4 and 5 slots is keeping this together. Bumgarner is good, hopefully he has a bad game and hunter gets us 5 and please let ogando pitch, not Ur buttbuddies the darren's.

MM...most dangerous Ranger hitter of all time when all time is defined as the last game...the only game someone has ever watched...hope the hangover is mild broham...

Andrus, Molina, and Holland saved us from Hunter's awfulness in Game 4 of the ALCS. And it likely saved the series as we would have very likely been looking at 3-2 after Sabathia in Game 5.

Hopefully they or others will save us again Sunday from our insistence on sticking with Hunter.

Hunter is Feldman. A FIP near 5. Just had a ridiculously lucky run in June and July. He just isn't very good, and we're seeing it lately.

the #4 by definition needs help...its not like BumG is Jim Palmer incarnate...that's the way baseball go..

This one game did a lot to erase the bad taste from games one and two. I had a deep sense of dread in the eighth inning, and let out a big sigh of relief when O'Day got that groundout.

You cannot send Tommy Hunter out tomorrow. YOU CANNOT DO IT.

deepintheheartoftexas----please don't comment any more on the rangers. nothing you said made sense and your analysis is clearly off base. when you're ready to give actual analysis that makes sense then you can talk some more.

O'Day's quote made milk come out my nose when I read ESPN over breakfast...

Darren O'Day and Bengie Molina couldn't agree on the biggest pitch of the night.

So out trotted Molina -- to, essentially, lay down the law.

"He's been catching since I was learning state capitals," O'Day quipped. "He knows what he's doing back there. … So I had an idea what I wanted to do, but he had an idea, too. And he had a better idea."

If Lee goes on short rest, then either Hunter starts anyway at some point in the following two games, or you're asking Lee, CJ, and Colby to ALL go on 3 days' rest the rest of the way. Even if you decide that's the best thing to do, by Lee pitching 3 times (the last two on short rest), you're not only taking the ball out of Hunter's hands, but also Colby's in Game 7.

With the current rotation, we get 3 of the 4 games with our best pitchers enjoying enough rest. Otherwise, we get 4 starts from our best 3 hurlers -- but all on 3 days' rest. I'll take Hunter today, and 3 more games from our dynamite Best 3.

Needless to say, a loss today REALLY, REALLY hurts, but you can say that about any of the next 3 games, too. Let's win today and get Lee on the mound Monday with a chance to send us back to SF with a 3-2 lead. Go Rangers!

October 31, 2010 at 5:24 AM | Unregistered Commenterdude in UK

Hunter hasn't been THAT bad in his first 2 starts -- he could have fought through it with the Spankees, but Holland was a better fit against that line-up; and Kinsler's error in the TB series kind of got things off to a bad start in that game for Tommy -- he left a couple of hangers up and gave up some extra base hits. He's going to be fine today, as long as he gets some runs. I'm hoping for a 5-4 final for the Good Guys. That sets up the rest of the series nicely.

October 31, 2010 at 5:49 AM | Unregistered Commenterdude in UK

Okay, how many balls can we hit directly at Juan Uribe at third base? Surely that has to change pretty soon.

Scattershooting while wondering how Johnny Oates feels watching the game from heaven.......

Michael Young does have a thing for hitting into double plays. Could we move him from 3B to coaching? Seriously. After watching what a real 3B looks like..............

Moreland hitting ninth is kinda of a neat way to lead the top of the lineup. Also, something about a blind hog finding an acorn after Davis, Garko, Smoak, Cantu, et al......................

Lewis. Another good reason why JD constanly recognizes the scouting department.

Vlad is sad. Poetry not in motion. Glad to have had him for the first half of the season. Painful.

Molina is Nacho Libre! (and can really call a game).

I don't have anything to back this up with, but, I just feel like we're gonna win tonight (& Monday, too) & really put 'the fear' in to long suffering, cursed SF Giants fans BUT who the eff is gonna pitch game 6 for Texas?

CJ Wilson in Game 6, I guess. Plus a bit of "Johnny Wholestaff".
