Pre-Game Notes: Triple-A Oklahoma City right-hander Neftali Feliz will be the Rangers' lone minor league representative in the 2009 All-Star Futures Game, to be played in St. Louis on July 12th ... According to general manager Jon Daniels, there is a "reasonable" chance that disabled center fielder Josh Hamilton (abdominal surgery) will return to the playing field before the All-Star Game (thus enabling him to play if elected via fan balloting), though he will almost certainly refrain from participating in the Home Run Derby.

Minor League Games: Round Rock vs. Oklahoma City (Guillermo Moscoso), Midland vs. Frisco (Dustin Nippert), Bakersfield vs. High Desert (Richard Bleier), Kannapolis vs. Hickory (Neil Ramirez), Spokane vs. Everett (Robbie Ross), AZL Rangers vs. AZL Dodgers (Carlos Melo)

I recently dropped Davis from one of my fantasy teams, so I fully expect him to explode at the plate within the next few days.

Hah, so far so good in that regard (and now Texas has cashed in on a costly mistake by Reynolds at first base to halve the D'Backs' lead)...

Huge bases-loaded walk for Young knots the game at 2-2...

I like how when you're playing bad teams sometimes they just give you runs. I bet those 3 Arizona just gave us are all we'll need this game.

its good to see some breaks go our way instead of the bad ones we've been getting.

Yet again had to step away for a bit, but did get to witness Andruw's monster home run...really, really gratifying stuff...

Byrd cashes in with a two-out double to put Texas up 6-3 and that much closer to a huge road series win...

And Davis finally fans after a huge 3-for-3 night...he's gone down the left field line on an 89 mph sinker (single), to left field again on a 79 mph change-up (double) and up the middle on an 89 mph four-seamer (single), and I think I would begin to feel a lot better if I saw him club a mid-90s fastball into right or right-center field, but it's a big step in the right direction...

FX^2 coming on to pitch in an eighth-inning role for a second consecutive game, with C.J. being aligned for yet another ninth-inning appearance...

Wow -- Frankie's lit up with a monster home run from Mark Reynolds, and the game that Texas seemed to have in hand has been knotted at 6-6...

More fun in the Clubhouse with Matthew Carruth's really strange take on Neftali Feliz (which Keith Law seemingly adamantly disagrees with): http://www.bbtia.com/the-clubhouse/2009/6/25/adventures-in-histrionics-or-carruths-strange-take-on-feliz.html

Texas fails to score after Young's two-out double in the ninth...O'Day and Frankie have both already been used and even if C.J. survives this inning, who knows if Jennings will be available after throwing 34 pitches in the series opener...

June 25, 2009 at 11:26 PM | Registered CommenterJoey Matschulat

Incidentally, C.J. isn't very good pitching on consecutive days and never has been very good pitching on consecutive days, and C.J. has now allowed a lead-off walk...not a good situation...

June 25, 2009 at 11:27 PM | Registered CommenterJoey Matschulat

Out goes C.J. and in comes Jason Grilli with the game on the line...this may not end well...

Man, I just called a homer for Davis, and I thought he had it with that 3-0, but lets see what Murph does.

Great opportunity for Texas with a high-contact hitter at the plate and Omar now at third base after a walk, stolen base and throwing error by Montero...

And Young lashes a sinking liner to Upton which he snares and fires back into the plate before Omar can attempt to score...

My wife made the most disgusted face when she saw Eddie on the mound.

Dang, I called my homerun for Davis in the wrong inning.

Murphy, too :D

What do you think the odds are that Wash will decide Davis needs another day off tomorrow, what with having another good game at the plate?

June 26, 2009 at 12:40 AM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

Who pitches in the bottom half of the inning to close it out? Do you think maybe they bring in Holland for an inning?

June 26, 2009 at 12:44 AM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

I would certainly hope that Wash would have the common sense not to try that, but nothing is a certainty with Wash...given that Holland is supposed to pitch tomorrow, we're not going to see him here...I'm guessing Jennings here...

June 26, 2009 at 12:49 AM | Registered CommenterJoey Matschulat

I thought the only ones left in the pen were Jennings and Mathis

June 26, 2009 at 12:50 AM | Unregistered CommenterTam

Oh, I thought Millwood was pitching tomorrow.

June 26, 2009 at 12:54 AM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

I think Millwood is supposed to go tomorrow, there was that day off in between the San Fran and Arizona series.

June 26, 2009 at 12:58 AM | Unregistered CommenterTam

Well let's hope Millwood gets close to a complete game tomorrow because I gotta think the bullpen is pretty gassed after tonight.

June 26, 2009 at 1:09 AM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

It is Millwood tomorrow, actually (my mistake -- should have caught that), but going with Holland there still runs you the risk of having him end up in the midst of a 15-20 pitch inning with his next scheduled start less than 48 hours away...it's moot now in any event, but it's almost a given that Texas will have to make some sort of pre-game roster move before tomorrow night's game (Madrigal?)...
