Suck.

Someone linked the game video on LSB.

"Milton Bradley had a 10-minute meeting with Cubs manager Lou Piniella on Thursday, presumably to discuss his on-field antics and clubhouse demeanor. He was thrown out of a game and suspended last week. He has also blown off the Chicago media a few times, and lazily ran out a grounder during Wednesday's game. "

From Dierkes site. LOL. Some things never change.

Bases juiced for Teagarden. This is where Texas has to deliver.

thats beautiful, strikes out on 3 pitches

April 23, 2009 at 7:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterJustin

And he strikes out. Gag.

April 23, 2009 at 7:10 PM | Registered CommenterJoey Matschulat

Alright, I'm going running before it gets too dark. This team frustrates me.

all night and day* bleah

Anyone else concerned about how this team relies on the homer so much, and how almost all the guys seem to be swinging for the fences, regardless of the situation? As a result, we're leading the league in homers - yes. But I would be willing to bet that we're also leading the league in strikeouts. Just checked - I was wrong. But after tonight we'll definitely be in the top 3 or 4. Still, it's a real problem.

April 23, 2009 at 7:51 PM | Unregistered CommenterJDolla$

I'm not sure they swing for the fences more than others, they just might be more successful when they do try. I bet they also get alot more AB's than alot of clubs. If you want to do a real examination, you'd want to look at strikeouts / plate appearance.

Oh, and that homer Davis just hit was with a broken bat.

April 23, 2009 at 7:57 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

I dont know if they are swinging for the fences either but they do not look very disciplined at the plate and are swinging at alot of bad pitches

April 23, 2009 at 8:02 PM | Unregistered CommenterJustin

nice job by millwood getting throught the seventh inning. and we get a pitching change on the blue jays side lets see if the heart of the lineup can make another comeback

April 23, 2009 at 8:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterJustin

Texas will watch Pedro throw tomorrow, per T.R.

April 23, 2009 at 8:16 PM | Registered CommenterJoey Matschulat

Well, maybe Blalock is...

April 23, 2009 at 8:16 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

Wow, an actual pinch hit appearance for Jones.

April 23, 2009 at 8:19 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

why is andruw jones pinch hitting for Davis??

April 23, 2009 at 8:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterJustin

and a new pitcher, lets go druw!

April 23, 2009 at 8:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterJustin

If Jones get's a hit, does Byrd pinch hit too?

April 23, 2009 at 8:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

Nevermind.

April 23, 2009 at 8:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

i think byrd needs to pinch hit anyway, our last 3 outs i dont want to see murphy continue his streak

April 23, 2009 at 8:28 PM | Unregistered CommenterJustin

also its said andrus made a throwing error, is Jones playing first?

April 23, 2009 at 8:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterJustin

Not sure who's at first, but Andrus double clutched at the ball before sailing his throw into the stands. He's had problems with his throws to first all night. There was another play where Davis saved him from another error.

April 23, 2009 at 8:34 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

And Jennings finally gives up a run.

April 23, 2009 at 8:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

well davis has to be out of the game because of the pinch hit, but he has made quite a few first base errors this year with the ball sailing

April 23, 2009 at 8:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterJustin

Eddie's warming up.

April 23, 2009 at 8:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

Down by 3 going into the 9th.

April 23, 2009 at 8:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

Looks like Byrd pinch hit for Murphy but grounded out on the first pitch.

April 23, 2009 at 8:43 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

Teagarden strikes out looking.

April 23, 2009 at 8:44 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

And the Rangers are down to their final strike, with 6-9 staring them in the face...

April 23, 2009 at 8:45 PM | Registered CommenterJoey Matschulat

Andrus lines out.

April 23, 2009 at 8:46 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

So by my count, the Rangers are now 1-3 in Millwood's starts, sound right?

April 23, 2009 at 8:47 PM | Unregistered CommenterMike E

This tidbit from Olney was published elsewhere this morning:

Hitters With Most Swing & Misses
Player Swing/Miss
Josh Hamilton 46
Chris Davis 44
Ryan Howard 39
Jordan Schafer 39
Adrian Gonzalez 38
David Ortiz 37
Nelson Cruz 36
Matt Kemp 36
Carlos Pena 36
Corey Hart 34

You know, this team looks like the 78-win squad I projected before the season. I'm not sure why I'm so disappointed, because I saw this coming all along...but good grief.

Evan Grant submits that Texas should demote Murphy to OKC and promote Boggs, and I don't know that you could argue against that course of action at this point, though Boggs (.250/.421/.318) isn't exactly tearing up the PCL either...

April 23, 2009 at 9:19 PM | Registered CommenterJoey Matschulat

I'd rather - since they're going with youth - demote Murph and bring up Julio Borbon. Try the following lineup for a bit - see what happens:

Borbon CF
Young 3B
Kinsler 2B
Hamilton RF
Cruz LF
Blalock/Jones DH
Salty C
Davis 1B
Andrus SS

April 23, 2009 at 10:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterJDolla$

I think that's the optimal defensive alignment by August...unfortunately, August is a long way off.
