Ask Professor Parks: Open Thread

Have a question about the Rangers' minor league system? Have a question about the prospects on the farm? Would you like to see a particular player interviewed while I am in Surprise? Would you like to know why The Beatles were the greatest band of all time? Post your questions in the comments section and I will answer them throughout the day. Anything goes.

A few quick notes:

● I was on Minor League Notebook Radio yesterday discussing the Rangers' farm system. Listen here.

● If you haven't read Joey's excellent look at Brandon McCarthy's disappearing curveball, I encourage you to do so. Lots of great info there.

● Special shout-out to my good friend Jamey Newberg, who is celebrating a birthday today.

Much love to Jason for shouting me out. Then again, I deserve it.

Agreed with t ball -- Danks is scary good already and it's going to take at least one front-line, virtually "can't miss" young pitcher in the vein of Feliz or Holland just to get a foot in the door, and even then the entire idea might be counterproductive if it takes a king's ransom in young talent just to keep KW on the line (which it very well might).

t ball: The hypothetical specified that four prospects be named for Danks. I agree that it would take at least one major league player to get the deal done. Of course, I'm sure a package featuring one of Holland, Feliz, or Smoak would be a good starting point, but that is just too painful to even think about.

Feliz pitched in a game on Sat and again in intra-squad on Tues..is it a good idea to use such a young pitcher on short rest in ST?

Alan: Yes. They are slowly building up the stamina/pitch counts. As long as Feliz isn't throwing 100 pitches every three days he should be fine.
