Who are the seven arms in your bullpen? FX2, BGL, Eddie, Mad-dog, Turnbow, Rupe and Eyre.

When it is all said and done, who will emerge as the top Latin American player signed by the Rangers? Why? Wilmer Font. Because he's already a badass and Z really likes him:)

Salty or Teagarden: Who stays and who goes? Salty stays Tea goes(hopefully).

Who is your favorite minor league expert: Kelvin Goldstein, Keith Law, Jason Parks, John Manuel, Jim Callis, or John Sickels? Besides you?............John Manuel.

Who will be the Rangers closer in 2010? FX2.

If the Rangers could add one player from the Yankees roster, who would you add? Assume all salary and positional implications. Thats hard...Joba.

1. Fransisco, Wilson, Guardado, Turnbow, Rupe, Madrigal, Eyre

2. Gomez

3. Teagarden stays

4. Goldstein

5. Francisco

6. Wong ($4 mil) - for the same price as what we paid Jennings last year. In 2006 he pitched 218 innings and won 19 games, 2007 199 Innings and won 19 as well. I don't think the injury he suffered running the bases last year will have the same concerns as if his injury had been to his elbow or shoulder.

1. FX2, CJ, Mad Dog, Turnbow, Nippert, Eyre, if there MUST be another lefty then Eddie

2. Font because Z and KLaw know more than I do.

3. Salty stays.

4. KLaw

5. FX2

6. Joba

1. I agree completely w kentw but Nipper is going on DL and donnelly will be available in AAA at teh end of one month so things can change very quickly. I beleive Donnelly can do well against lefties and if BGL or Eddie struggle early he might be up soon if their injuries are an issue.

2. martin perez. rangers need lefties. he is gifted and will mature into a stronger player. he is very young and yet has an advanced student of the game. He is likely to have a very high upside that we can only imagine given his size and age.

3Tea stays and is combined with max and a veteran so Max can DH and play a little 1B sometimes. the catcher will be a three headed monster that can emphasize defense and offense while mixing and matching players and situations.

4. Law. Gives a players view of talent

5. FX2. He is going to be really good at what he does. he has a good personality. he seems to be fearless and he has great stuff. Should be a success.

6.I want Joba. love his story. Think he has a great head on his shoulders and I think he would be great in the BP or as a starter.

Who are the seven arms in your bullpen?

Fx2, Ceej, Eddie, Nippert, Madrigal, and, um... I guess Turnbow and Eyre right now.

When it is all said and done, who will emerge as the top Latin American player signed by the Rangers? Why?

Ever? Pudge. Cause he's good.
Currently in the minors? Wilmer Font. Not because it's likely, but cause of his ceiling.

Salty or Teagarden: Who stays and who goes?

Salty stays. He's better and doesn't get injured as often.

Who is your favorite minor league expert: Kelvin Goldstein, Keith Law, John Manuel, Jim Callis, or John Sickels?

Law, cause he's clever.

Who will be the Rangers closer in 2010?

Fx2, of course. He seemed to really have "it" out there this year.

If the Rangers could add one player from the Yankees roster, who would you add? Assume all salary and positional implications.

Joba. This question is ridiculously easy. He's crazy good, he's cheap and he's under team control for a long time. I can't imagine who is even in the conversation with him at this point.

1. F^2, CJ, Eddie, Mad-Dog, Nippert, Eyre, Turnbow/Donnelly (still undecided)
2. Martin Perez. I like how supposedly his "eyes light up when he talks about pitching." Plus he has room to grow and mature still, even though he's already good. Seems pretty intelligent too.
3. If I'm playing MLB the Show 09, its Teagarden. But after watching both of them play in Spring Training, I'm going with Salty. His approach at the plate has improved and he can flat out hit if he does that. Catching will improve to adequate or better if his footwork improves just a bit.
4. Callis. Can't really figure out why.
5. Hughes. Let's keep the drunk drivers off the team, please.

March 21, 2009 at 1:53 PM | Unregistered CommenterJoel

1. Fx2, Mad-Dog, CJ, Eddie, Rupe, Eyre, Turnbow

2. Perez because he's a hard throwing lefty and will be able to become an elite starter.

3. Salty because his defense is starting to come around and he can swing the stick.

4. Keith Law

5. Neftali Feliz because that's what he's built for.

6. Joba because of his arm and salary.

March 21, 2009 at 2:18 PM | Unregistered CommenterRays08=Rangers09

1. Frank Francisco, CJ Wilson, Warner Madrigal, Eddie Guardado, Willie Eyre, Dustin Nippert, Derrick Turnbow.

2. Martin Perez. He has been so impressive at such a young age and he is left-handed. He seems to be poised to have a Holland type break-out season either this year or next.

3. Saltalamacchia stays, Teagarden goes. I think Salty will be adequate defensively and well above average offensively this season. I think that will make Daniels feel comfortable dealing Teagarden.

4. Keith Law

5. Francisco

6. Wang. I was tempted to pick Joba, but it seems that Wang might be a better bet to be a solid #2 starter for the next 5 years. Joba might be better suited to the bullpen given his injury concerns.

March 21, 2009 at 2:57 PM | Unregistered CommenterStephen R

1. Rupe, Nippert, Madrigal, Eyre, Guardado, Wilson and Fransisco.

2. Martin Perez. Lefty with real insight. Slick pitcher.

3. Teagarden needs to stay, we need a defensive catcher as opposed to an offensive catcher. Local ties. Let Saltalamacchia start this year to garner attention from the other teams.

4. Keith Law...most times.

5. Fransisco.

6. Hughes, with out a doubt.

March 21, 2009 at 4:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterChris

1. - Fx2, CJ, Madrigal, Rupe, Turnbow, Eyre, Guardado. And man... looking at that group doesn't inspire me too much.

2. Perez or Font would seem the obvious choices based on talent.

3. Both, actually. I think Tea's a backup.

4. I fought the KLaw and the KLaw won.

5. Frankie Francisco hopefully... if not him, I think Moscoso or Diamond.

6. Phil Hughes. I'm not a Joba fan, although he's going to be a good closer.

March 21, 2009 at 4:29 PM | Registered CommenterJon Page

1. Frankie Fran, CJ, Turnbow, Guardado, Eyre, Madrigal, Rupe
2. I think Wilmer Font will be a truly special arm.
3. MaxRam. They say his defense is suspect, but we all remember the guy making two of the best plays of the year last season. He's adequate, and every time I see him, I see a young Albert Pujols. But between Salty and Tea, Salty has way more upside, which fits exactly with the Rangers scheme.
4. I like Keith Law, cause he doesn't sugar-coat things. Smart, ingenious and honest.
5. Rangers closer in 2010 will be Frankie Fran. The guy has been successful every year with us; Nothing shows me he can't do anything.
6. Phillip Hughes. I see a perfect scenario in either Salty or Tea for him.

March 21, 2009 at 4:44 PM | Unregistered CommenterSam Morton

bullpen: fx2,cj, mad dog, then a hodge podge of guys that don't excite me. I will predict that 2009 Turnbow ends the same as 2008 Franklyn German.

best LA talent in last 2 years: Martin Perez. Loves me some lefties with that type ceiling.

catcher: I trade Salty and roll w/ Teagarden and Max.

I like reading all those guys you mentioned. Love reading your takes on the Rangers, as well as Hindman's.

I can't see another viable 2010 closer on the roster, other than FX2.

I'd take Joba, Wang, and Hughes - in that order. Wang would actually be a great fit here to lead what looks like will be a very young rotation in 2010.

March 21, 2009 at 5:50 PM | Unregistered Commentertricer

Who are the seven arms in your bullpen? FX2, Wilson, Guardado, Madrigal, Rupe, Eyre, ???

Salty or Teagarden: Who stays and who goes? Saltalamacchia stays and becomes an above average catcher. Teagarden gets traded next winter.

Who is your favorite minor league expert: Kelvin Goldstein, Keith Law, Jason Parks, John Manuel, Jim Callis, or John Sickels? The Professor... Jason Parks. A close second to MJH.

Who will be the Rangers closer in 2010? Frankie.

If the Rangers could add one player from the Yankees roster, who would you add? Assume all salary and positional implications. Joba.

March 21, 2009 at 8:59 PM | Unregistered Commenterrob m

- Francisco, Wilson, Guardado, Madrigal, Rupe, Nippert and Turnbow.

- Martin Perez

- I think the organization will go with Teagarden long term.

- Law

- Frank

- Wang. I think Chamberlain will either end up as a closer or suffer from Hardinism.

Who are the seven arms in your bullpen?
Fransisco, Wilson, Madrigal, Guardado, Eyre, Rupe, and Nippert

When it is all said and done, who will emerge as the top Latin American player signed by the Rangers? Why?
Martin Perez. Love everything I hear about the kid.

Salty or Teagarden: Who stays and who goes?
Longterm I just don't see the Rangers giving up on Tea. I think he may end up being an average catcher offensively, but defensively he's excellent and calls a great game. However, I think because of injury concerns they keep both catchers unless Max Ram. shows he can catch. Playing both Salty and Tea reduces the wear and tear on Teagarden's body.

Who is your favorite minor league expert: Kelvin Goldstein, Keith Law, John Manuel, Jim Callis, or John Sickels?
It's a tie between Callis and KLaw.

Who will be the Rangers closer in 2010?
FX2

If the Rangers could add one player from the Yankees roster, who would you add? Assume all salary and positional implications.
I'll take Hughes.

My answers:

1. Rupe, Madrigal, Nippert, Wilson, Eddie G, Frankie, Turnbow

2. Martin Perez. He could be something very special. It's not going to be a smooth ride to the top, but he could eventually be the complete package.

3. Teagarden should be our staring catcher. Salty might develop into an offensive force, but I'd rather have the defensive force behind the plate. Offense can only take you so far. In order for the Rangers to have continued success, the focus needs to shift to pitching and defense. Offensive-minded baseball that comes at the expense of defense is a ticket for a third place finish.

4. Law and Goldstein. I value both of their opinions a great deal and I seek council from them on a regular basis. They are both as smart as they come.

5. Pedro Strop

6. I'm tempted to say Joba, because at this point he has the most value. His arm and body scare me off a bit, though. I love his stuff, but I have doubts about how long his arm will stay attached to his body.

I really like Hughes. I've seen him pitch numerous times and I still think he has top of the rotation potential. He is still very young and I think he has a chance to emerge as one of the top young starters in the game. He has some injury concerns as well, but if given a choice, I'd probably lean towards Hughes over Joba. It's a long-term decision. I think Hughes will end up as the better pitcher over an extended period of time.

So do think that Frankie won't do a good job? or do you think that they won't resign him? And whats Strop's velo? Thanks.

March 22, 2009 at 10:55 AM | Registered CommenterKinslerhomer

Kinslerhomer: I think Frankie will be effective in the role, but I don't think he will be dominant. Strop has the potential to be a lights out type. He has a power arm with fastball velo in the 92-96 range and a filthy slider in the 85-87 range. He has serious mechanical issues and some injury concerns, but if he can stay healthy he could be a monster in a late inning role. I think he blows people away in '09.
