Notes: Per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

General manager Jon Daniels met with manager Ron Washington to determine the direction the Rangers will head with their beat-up rotation during the biggest series of the season. The only decision made Monday is that Matt Harrison will make his major-league debut Tuesday against the Angels in place of Eric Hurley.

Hurley, who is suffering from a hamstring injury, hasn't been placed on the DL, and the hope is he can avoid a stint. Ditto for Vicente Padilla, who has a bad right thumb. No decision has been made on his status for Wednesday's start.

The Rangers still have to make a roster move before Tuesday's game to make room for Harrison.

Mendoza's sinker hasn't exactly been sinking early...2-0 in the bottom of the first inning in favor of the Angels...

Good to be back from vacation...

Well, this game went to crap in a hurry...8-0 in the top of the third, as Mendoza completely melted down...

Not good to be dipping into the bullpen with Harrison making his ML debut tomorrow...

And Mike Scioscia has been tossed with Texas down 8-1 in the fifth inning...

What a comeback...Murphy's three-run HR and Davis's upper-deck shot make it 8-6 Angels...

Well, Texas gets two on and no outs, but fails to score...and now Torii Hunter just laced a homer to deep right-center field...

Rangers can't seem to catch a break...two hard-hit balls are both snagged by Kotchman and Vlad, respectively, and now Texas is down three runs with just six outs remaining...

If a pitcher does not have nothing, as anybody could see you DO NOT leave him in until the game is completly out of hand. You can't give tonights game away and worry about tomorrow. you have to try to win one game at a time.

Fantastic defensive sequence in the top of the eighth, on a brilliant 3-1-5 inning-ending double play...unfortunately, the Rangers remain down three runs, and will have to face K-Rod in the bottom of the ninth...

Rangers down to their final out in the bottom of the ninth, with Murphy representing the tying run on deck...

Texas unfortunately comes up short in this one, 9-6...

I think the decision to stick with Mendoza was primarily driven by the need to preserve the bullpen with Matt Harrison making his ML debut tomorrow, and the relief core already being taxed...that said, Washington's decision to not yank him sooner did prove costly in this one...
