Brandon McCarthy

Brandon McCarthy's final pitching line tonight against the Oakland Athletics, in a pretty important divisional game at home:

1 IP, 6 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 K

Through four starts, he has a 10.20 ERA with a WHIP over 2.00.

The Athletics lead 8-0 after 2 1/2 innings.

There's no way around it: this team is playing absolutely terrible right now. If it's not the hitting killing the team, it's the pitching. Tonight, it very well could be both.

Sigh.

Well this is where we are at. It is 16 games in. Basically 10% of the season has been played. So I am not going to listen anymore to those who say, "it's still early." 16 games shows a club where they are at and where they need to work more. For the Rangers the same old man keeps appearing, pitching, but he has brought a friend with him, the hitting bug. No longer are we losing games 8-6, and 10-9. We are losing 16-4 and 9-1. I can deal with a bad hitting game here and there but the Rangers are not putting the same team on the field like they used to. Come-on, a no hitter in the first 13 games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks like the Rangers are well on their way to losing another series and maybe being swept. The A's are a cut above the Rangers in everyway. Their hitting is good, and clutch. Their starting pitching is as solid as it needs to be, and their bullpen is good.

Oh by the way, our catcher is hitting about the same as me. Wilkerson is so bad, the manager must make excuses on why he is slumping. I watched him all last year suck and it doesn't matter how "hurt" he is, he just sucks. The Cat man is maybe the biggest liability in the top of the line-up.

I won't even waste time talking about pitching. I will watch another 10 games or so, if it doesn't turn around by then, we will be watching the A's run away with this division by the end of April. Or at least run away from the Rangers, the Angels still may challenge.

AL West record: 1-6!

Ranger Ryan,

I think you are correct. This team is no where as talented as it was last year and it finished 3rd in the weakest division. Mr Washington has his hand full. I think I am gonna be sick.
