Word has it that former Oriole and no stranger to the long ball Bruce Chen is about to come to terms with the club on a non-roster deal. It would give him an invite to spring training and a chance to be thrown into the mix of guys competing for the fifth and final spot in the starting rotation.
Personally, I don't like this deal. In fact find me someone who does. Sure it's just a non-roster deal and the guy has shown he's capable of putting a nice season together: Two years ago he posted his best numbers of his career with a 3.58 earned run average over 32 starts. But Chen is a launching pad and considering how many rockets like to fly out of this place during the summer, then this may be the Cuban Missle Crisis all over again.
