What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
It appears that Gonzalez will sign very soon, probably by the end of next week. The Rangers are showing strong interest, but will have strong competition from the Cubs, Dodgers, RedSox, and Mystery teams [ yes, two of them are the Angels and Phillies]. He could command as much as 5yr/$60m. It is also believed by scouts that with a few starts at high minors, Miguel could be in the majors by early August. I have brought his name up before without any comments. Several scouts believe he could have as much impact as Chapman, Cespedes, Martin, or Puig. He is 26, from Cuba, and could form an excellent core from the right side with Yu, with Holland and Perez comprising the port side. So the question becomes, should the Rangers alter their focus from Garza to focus on signing Gonzalez? M.A.G. will cost the Rangers only the contract to sign him, with no loss of prospects that would have gone to the Cubs in a Garza trade.or lost to J-2 [ he is over the age limit] The bonus also will be when Ogando comes back on the 23rd against the Yankees, he would only have to get through at most two other starts before Gonzalez could take over. This will allow Alexi to go to the pen as the long man, and preserve his arm for the end run, hoping that is the WS.
Get a life
Signing the Cuban MAG should be a goal.Making the deal for Garza should not preclude that effort.I want them both.Reportedly JD has tried in the past to deal for Garza. He would be willing to extend him.So--he must be worth dealing for.Prospects are currency.JD should make the best offer he is willing to make....and let the pitcher end up where that takes him.I hope it's here.......but there are more than one way to build a roster.
This 2013 Rangers team is good enough to go all in.
and the 2013 Rangers will win it all. So will the 2014, 2015 teams as well. Then we have a setback to playoff status in 2016. Then these young stars arrive and we go on another run of titles.
There is no way in hell the Rangers should give up Perez for Garza. Perez has looked like he has turned the corner. Garza when he pitched in the AL was nothing more than a number 3 pitcher or maybe a 2. Perez might have that type of season next year and while only being paid the league minimum. Garza will command a contract that will be bigger than Hollands, Harrison, and Yu's yearly contract minus his posting fee. We need a bat more than a pitcher.
We have a utility player we could trade for Garza. Profar sucks here.
@Shawn, We have a bat and his name is Manny Ramirez. He has been a world series winner twice.
Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez wouldn't cost us any blue chip prospects but money and it isn't ours so I don't care about buying players. I just hate dealing prospects which is what you would have to do to get Garza. However, I'm not sure that Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez could have the track record of postseason success that Matt Garza has already had. I think this next wave of Rangers prospects will be the best wave yet in 3 years. Gallo, Brinson, Alfaro, Jackson, Edwards, Gonzalez, Sardinas, and Marcos Diplan. I want to keep these guys because their are superstars amongst those guys just meantioned.
Rollie, I highly suggest a spelling class.
JD, I highly suggest you remove the dick from your ass.
I swear Rollie. I had no idea you were queer.
The Dodgers have today signed Alexander Guerrero for 7 yrs/ $32m. He is a 26 year old Cuban short stop with a potent bat. However, the Dodgers also announced that they will no longer pursue Miguel Gonzalez. Time for the Rangers to sign another top rated international pitcher, but watch the Cubs beat them to it, and he will be a good replacement for Garza, now that his salary is off their books.
I wish that young feller in the FO would give my ol buddy Roy a call.
Cuban RHP Miguel A. Gonzalez has signed with the Philadelphia Phillies--6 years--more than $50 million@ Jeff Passan
That seems like a very Philadelphia thing to do. Fuck those old ass bitches with their alzheimer's manager.
Does the MAG signing indicate that the Phillies will deal Ace Cliff Lee to the Bosox or Braves or Cardinals?
I give up-does it?
Charlie Manuel is dealing with alzheimer's.
