What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
It was the kind of monumental news that causes you to remember where you were and what you were doing at the time!
The Texas Rangers had swooped in and signed Cliff Lee--away from the mighty Yankees! It would propel the Texas Rangers to the first World Series berth in franchise history.
Our lives have been forever changed.
It will be the last time if the FO doesn't get off their ass and do something. Screw these prospects that never pan out.
Well--It sure was a big deal to me.
I was traveling in New York that day, and remember having to take off my Ranger hat at one point because of all the threats and curses I received walking through the streets by Yankee fans... It was AWESOME.

And if Seattle had not backed out of the Yankees deal because the Yankees would not include Jesus Montero, who they later traded to Seattle for Michael Pineda, the Rangers would have been compelled to counter the Yankee deal by offering Derek Holland and Chris Davis [who in 2009 had 21 homers in 2/3rds of a season]. And where would the Mariners be in 2013 with the current Davis and Holland over Beavan and Smoak. Take a close look though at Lee's July to the end of September with the Rangers. They were not that overwhelmingly better then Dempster for the the Rangers last year even with Lee's much better control. Having been bitten in July trades over the years, especially when dealing with National League players [ any one remember Jorge Cantu, a 100 rbi 1b/3b producer in 2009 for the Marlins, had in the final 30 games played in 2010 for the Rangers exactly 2, yes, that is 2 rbi], JD is reluctantly apprehensive. That is why the Rangers did not go hard after Nolasco and been hard to pull the trigger on a Garza deal. Both Garza and Soriano could be obtained at a cheap price [ like Olt and N Ramirez] if the Rangers were willing to take on all of Soriano's $18m for 2014 and a 5yr/$60m deal with Garza, a prerequisite before a completion of the trade. But that would make it $30m for the two for 2014. Simply put, the dollars could be much better aliquoted somewhere else. So if the Rangers do make a trade for a bat, look for them targeting Jose Bautista [though it is way to early for the Blue Jays to be sellers] or Alex Rios. Both 32, Jose is signed through 2016 for $14m a year and Alex through 2015 and owed $26m over that span. JD has repeatedly implied that the starter shortage will be addressed internally, with returning IRL: Ogando, Lewis and much later Harrison: unless a true ACE is acquired [ highly unlikely].
Good Lord I nearly fell asleep reading that drivel.
So why did you bother to read it Drivel.
Your daughter coaxed me into it.
