What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
It's almost the trade deadline and its time for some big decisions. What if we traded a package of Profar and Grimm for Ricky Nolasco and Stanton from the Dodgers?
First off the Marlins would shot that down in a second. Might as well bring back John Burkett, Roger Pavlik, Bobby Witt and Rick Helling why we are at it...
First that is assuming the Dodgers had either of those players, which they do not. Second that assumes the Rangers would give up Profar, which they will not.
Realistically I think you should look towards Chicago, Cubs for Garza giving up something like Sardinas/Odor/Beltre plus maybe a Tellis, White Sox for Rios giving up something similar so Sardinas/Beltre/Jackson. Then maybe a corner bench guy unless Olt starts hitting regular like because Baker will most likely need surjery and the back up corner spot is going to hurt come late August mid September.
Garza and Rios are the two that the Rangers are most targeting and in discussions with the Chicago teams. A good target instead of Garza would be Peavy. Both could be acquired for second tier prospects if the Rangers were willing to take on their total salaries. Rios is at $12.5 for 2014 and $13.5 for 2015, Peavy is at $14.5 and $15. .Both are under contract with options through 2015. Both are 32, Rios a 5-tool right fielder who could easily slide to left or center, Peavy has been looked upon as an Ace but physically fragile. So it would be a monetary gamble. But if taken on salary, a Tepesch, Grimm [or Ramirez] , Butler or even Gentry could be enough. A starting staff of Darvish, Holland, Perez, Ogando and Peavy would take Tepesch and Grimm out of the starting 5. Back ups would be Lewis, Harrison, Feliz [ if the Rangers keep him a starter] , ready by late July, August and September respectively. The Rangers have an very solid inf/of utility player in the organization, and I do not mean Leury. It is time for Yangervis. Solarte could prove to be a very much younger version of Marco Scutaro, who the Rangers tried hard to acquire last July before the Giants won out. Hard to strike out line drive machine, but Solarte is a switch hitter with much more drive and power. So the Rangers if they did do a 4 for 2 trade with the White Soxs, would then have room on the 40 for Solarte and, dare I say, MANNY.
ps Profar plays left field against the Astros tonight.
You're an idiot Lee.
JD--Why always so mean?? All the time?? I don't like that all to well
I will absolotely love to see Profar in outfield tonight as well as to see if Daru will make all needed adjusments. I really think this well happen but don't know for certainty.
@ LeeI've seen the name Yangevis Solarte in the Round Rock reports doing well - but have never heard him touted as a "player"--except by you. I hope he gets called up in September.Mike Olt is a dreadful .125/.243/.156 with 15 strikeouts in his last 9 games at AAA! Yikes!
We can't trade prospects. We have to wait till they no longer have any value.
JD you post as if you have great insight of the MLB. What is your baseball playing background? Were you able to make it to pro ball level.?
Terry, I also talked up Cotts last year and this, and all on this post were negative to that option. Solarte fits into that category. A talent worth at least a call up before losing to another team in 2014 as a minor league level free agent. Butler also deserves a September call up. Both need to be added to the 40 man roster. In September there often are options that open up, often created via others going on the 60 day IR. In late August the 60 day IR is often used by teams to stockpile more then 40 players, at least until clearing time, aka free agency, days after the World Series.
Ask your wife.
Thank you for your succinct answer JD. I understand where you are coming from. A wasted life can not be regained and if this little forum serves as being therapeutic for you, the more power to you. But try to find a better way to express yourself then perpetually using idiot or a stretched out yawn. They are getting very stale, and to post yawn is a waste of time and space. So keep posting, just try to be a little more original.
Leah of Arlington: Is that all you got?
Succinct on outta here. Leah.
