What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
I like when dumbasses try to equate correlation with causation. Texas has won 4 games in row wearing the blue jerseys. Better wear them he rest of the year right? Blue causes wins...DFA the red jerseys.
I'm new to this board. Don't know everyone's personality but I've watch a lot of games and it seems to me that Berkman is awful on defense, has below average power, is not a middle of the lineup hitter and remember Oswalt last year? Eric wants to talk about his walks. Well okay he walks but I watch the games and see him not in the lineup and the Rangers are winning against GOOD TEAMS. Get this old ass Astros player out of here. This is Roy Oswalt all over again....
who refuses to try and comprehend an opinion that can't be backed up with a stat, that is not an opinion he shares, or that does not fit his agenda.
This is total bullshit. I'm not a slave to WAR; I'm a slave to reality. Everyone here watches the games with their eyes -- everyone also has a different outlook, however, which make all of our opinions subjective. Numbers are the only thing that makes the game objective, which is why I use them to defend my points.
Using numbers to justify a stance ... I tend to think that's pretty normal in baseball.
Some things are opinions. Like taste in music, or movies. But baseball is almost entirely driven by statistics; there are mathematical truths. Facts. If you deny the math, you are volunteering to be ignorant.
You posters keep telling me how wrong I am about Lance Berkman, but not one of you has given any credible evidence to support that stance.
If you are going to start talking about defense and base running, then you should probably reevaluate his age and why the Rangers signed him in the first place.
The only thing that worries me about Lance (other than his knees) is his SLG and ISO, but I think it's ridiculous what a few people here are saying about him. His walk rate is great, and I really don't know what people are expecting from him.
Berkman seems like such a villian to me guys. I think because he is a DH only guy that doesn't do much is why they probably don't need him. I think when Baker comes back the obvious move is to DFA Lance Berkman.
We just have to accept Berkman for what he is. He's not, and is not going to be, David ORtiz, Joe Mauer, or Billy Butler. Heck, he's not even Kendrys Morales this year. He's a liability on the bases and even more so on defense. Shades of Vlad Guerrero. But I don't think replacing him with Baker full-time would be a good idea. Baker has done well against lefties, not so well against righties...and his sample size is small anyway. At least in Berkman, you have a hitter that can face either type of pitcher. I expect he'll be dropped in the order when he plays again. Curious to see how he will handle that. I like the way Wash has set up the lineup for the past few games, with Cruz 3rd and AJ 5th. I suppose slotting Berkman at 6th or 7th will be what happens.
All of our piitchers on the DL could pitch to Berkman in simulated games. Other than that cut the guy.
