What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
I just read on MLBTR that Logan Morrison may be available at the trade deadline if not sooner. Honestly I never even considered this guy. But he seems to be a left handed power hitting COF type who is under team control until 17, so he could at hte very least solidify one of the COF slots after Nellie or Murphy is gone. If we traded for him now, perhaps he could slide into left and provide a much needed bat in place of Murphy. We lose a little defense (albeit not much) but we seemingly gain a lot of pop as compared to Murphy. Thoughts?
Morrison has knee issues and has shown why he was solely a 1B'man his entire minor-league career. He's limited to 1B as his D in LF is awful thanks to limited range, and playing the OF exacerbates his knee issues. Don't think you could rely on him to stay healthy playing the OF, plus he wouldn't be very good at it. He'd be like our very own Delmon Young, only with knee issues. Knee issues + horrible OF D. Horrible OF D + knee issues. 6 sentences making the exact same points, only reformulated each time.
Yes but his bat would be better than Murphy's. We hav eto do something in that spot. Murphy is not cutting the mustard.
How much of a benefit is his bat if he can't stay on the field?
Yeah Logan Morrison is JUST what we need. LMFAO
How much is Murphy worth on the field everyday? Is there a better option on the market or realistically available on the trade market? Of course everyone wants Stanton, but is he even an option? Granted the marlins owner and GM are crooks and not very predictable so who know what they will do. Who is available that is an upgrade over Murphy?
OH what the hell-let's go get Logan Morrison. That would solve everything.
You're missing the point. If morrison's knees won't let him stay on the field in the outfield he's of little value to us, regardless of how good he is or isn't in LF.
