What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Michael Kirkman is the most consistent at giving up runs in any situation. Up by a lot, down by a lot. Why would it be any different with the game on the line? He's an equal-opportunity run-giver.
And this is why Wash gets criticized. Putting him in the perfect situation to fail.
Kirkman is my favorite pitcher, I have a brocrush on him (he touched my taint)
Oh wow how original, he did definitely not touch my taint, only my ass
you're a fucking idiot.
BOO FUCKING HOO
Cry for us
How much wood would a wood chuck wood, if a wood chuck would chuck wood?
As much as allowed, JD. Believe in the skipper and circle of his friends (coaches).Keeping OAk in mind, they have been in attempt to find out who works and who does not work for the team.
Kirkman, show us your talent!
It is possible that Wash was looking ahead at the next 17 games in a row and just wanted the game to be over. Something he should have done against Seattle last week. Save the bullpen, go on to Toronto, win tomorrow night.
If you believe he lost sa game on purpose you're an idiot.
Bringing Kirkman in at that point is as close to losing on purpose as you're ever likely to see.
Why would he do that? THINK
Yes, Kirkman blew it big time last night. But the real problem was Ron Washington.
Last night's game was probably the most frustrating of the year to me. Starting with the hard hit balls hit to fielders and the green monster, it was a frustrating start. I actually felt pretty good for Wash sticking with Holland through the 6th, and it paid off. The problems came when in the seventh, he brought in Frasor instead of Scheppers to relieve Ross. Yes, Scheppers is the 8th inning "setup" man, but it's hard to get into a more important situation than bases-loaded one out with a one run lead. Frasor did alright, but Berkman didn't. Slight mistake on Wash's part in my mind, but no big deal.
And then in the ninth. Fast Profar on first, Andrus up. Yes, Andrus is struggling. But David Murphy, our worst hitter, is on deck. Andrus is probably not going to pop up. He and Profar are fast enough to eliminate most chances of a double play. Anyway, I'm sure you know how the story goes. He tells Andrus to bunt, who obviously was extremely reluctant as he took the first 3 pitches. on 3-0 (!) he calls on him to bunt again and he takes it right down the middle. on 3-1, he bunts through it, possibly just a miss but I like to believe that Andrus missed the ball on purpose in hopes that he wouldn't have to do a dumb thing and waste an out. And then, with 2 strikes, the bunt call stands. Andrus bunts, gets Profar to second. Sure lucky he hit that in play. I also happened to be watching the Fangraphs WP graph during the game, and this play decreased the Rangers chance of winning by over 9%. The Murphy popup (surprise) cost us much less than that.
And then, there was bringing in Kirkman for the bottom of the ninth. I can deal with that, except what is really annoying is how he left him in after the leadoff double. He had Nathan warming up and ready after a mound visit, and, I don't know about you, but I would rather have Nathan against Pedroia than Kirkman vs. Ortiz.
Kirkman does not have the consistency to make it as a Major Leaguer with the Rangers..We probably need to work a trade with...say Miami or Seattle. .Kirkman to Miami for 1b/of DOBBS...had 5 HRs and was hitting .307 before severely injuring oblique muscle. It sometimestakes MONTHS to fully heal. Believe me, I know as it happened to me once.Kirkman AND Petesch for closer Wilhelmsen.(only 29). We have a great one now (Nathan) but might only last onemore year...and..what if he gets hurt? Feliz can fill in but is not ready yet to close consistently!
The boys upstairs REALLY have to look at Kirkman.
^this fucking guy
Maybe we could trade Kirkman for Puig.
I think we should just trade Kirkman for Robbyfirst. I hear he struck out like 17 college batters once.
EAST...did you sit next to JD @UTexas or was it @ Podunk Jr Hi... The wit of both of you deserves to challengefor the next Nobel Peace Prize. Peace brothers....be nice.
The bigger issue isn't Kirkman, because he'll be gone soon, it's Ron Washington. He does not put his players in the best position to win baseball games.
Being mad at Kirkman makes no sense. We know he sucks. To me it's like having a dog that you know isn't paper trained but you leave him unattended at home for hours. That dog is going to shit in the house, and it's your fault for not taking him outside to use the bathroom. How can you be mad at the dog for doing what you knew it would do? The only person in that stadium last night that honestly thought Texas had a chance when Kirkman came into the game was Ron Washington. It reminds me of bringing Tim Wakefield into a game to pitch to Nelson Cruz in a walk off situation. Everyone in the park knows the game is about to end.
Wash either won't admit that Kirkman stinks in public or he is deluding himself to think that Kirkman has been unlucky. That is disconcerting to me, and should be to as well. As Eric said, Wash is not putting his players in proper position to win games. He's setting them up for failure, and it's not a good precedent.
Saw a quote recently from Wash that said he thinks Kirkman just needs some confidence to overcome these issues he's been having. I think Wash is thinking there that if he can get Big Papi out in that situation, perhaps Kirkman's confidence will rise and he will be worth a damn in the future. Didn't work, and Kirkman's worse off than before, as are the Rangers. The great confidence builder experiment backfired, so it is time to launch him (take the pronoun "him" to mean whichever you please)into the sun.
Eric makes a good point. Something else Ive noticed about Wash lately....When Beltre hits a homerun who is the SECONDperson to greet him in the dugout to yank off his helmet? The first is Andrus but Beltre knows Elvis is waiting so he usually manages to dodge him. IT IS WASHIMNGTON...The mgr. Ive NEVER seen another manager in organized baseball playing games like that in the dugout with his players... never. That does not mean it never has happened, but Ive not seen it.
Not good to try to be a buddy and THEN a boss!
PLEASE STFU Robbifist.
JD...your 2nd grade English is adorable....."JD"?...@least your aren't Eric Holder spyin on my phone calls.
