Good Lord. Trading scrubs for REAL players just won't get it done. Please explain why we would want Garza or Morse.
Garza-because our front office has had a fetish for him for years(and hes a solid 2-3 type starter) Morse(that's prob an overpay for him in retrospect) but he's a power bat and at worse a better platoon partner for Moreland/Murphy than baker and if either falls apart you could do worse
NoNo, no, no, no, no, no, never, never, never, never, no, neverInteresting but the Rockies wouldn't do itNo, no, no, no, no, no, never, never, never, never, no, neverNo, no, no, no, no, no, never, never, never, never, no, never
None of those are reasonable.
Garza has been injured too long for me to be interested in him until he plays a lot more and proves he's still got it.Morse is fine but not enough of an upgrade from Cruz or Murphy to justify giving those guys up, if an upgrade at all.
What else you got?
Of the players we would want from that list, the teams would not part for your offers and the players we don't want or need you are giving too much.
Andy about summed it up. The ONLY guy you mentioned there I may like would be Cargo, but that package won't come close to being enough for the Rockies to part with him. The Mike Olt to Philly deal makes sense to me, but the Phillies will have to give us a full refund for our money given in the MY trade if so.
The Rangers already have Alfonso Soriano. He plays RF and goes by the name "Nelson Cruz". Besides that, why in the world would anyone want Soriano?
I do like the thought of CarGo playing here...but I'm afraid it would take more than what you proposed. Most likely at least 1 of Tepesch-Grimm-Perez, plus the ones you listed.
Not to mention cliff lee listed the rangers on his no trade list
rangers ARE NOT on Cliff Lee's no trade list.
The Rangers are on Cliff's no trade list, as well as every other contender. This was done not as a slight to the Rangers, but to allow him the ability of which team he would be traded to. The teams that are not on his no trade list (he was allowed to choose 20) are the teams who are too far away from contending to even think about taking on his contract. He basically turned his no trade list of 20 teams into every team, thus necessitating his approval for any deal.
Your 'friend' is calling you.
Soriano is making $18 mil this year and next. CHIC should send US good prospects for us taking him on, not the other way around. He's the very definition of white elephant.
And I'm saving Olt to go along in a package with Profar for a great-to-elite player like Price or Stanton. Despite his struggles so far, Olt is still a well-regarded prospect. He shouldn't be dealt for a mere rental like Morse (he's a FA after the season). He has way more value than that.
Olt sucks-that ship has sailed.
We don't need Stanton and we don't need Price. We need a real backend of a bullpen and we need everyone healthy.
Right now I'm not terribly interested in Stanton or Price. Right now. Price is hurt and is off to a bad start. Stanton is hurt and off to a bad start. Also, Stanton is 23 and has already been on the DL approximately 382 times. That's bad for anyone, but especially someone of his age.
I'm not sure who the answer is in trade. Maybe Gonzalez if the Rockies are sellers. Maybe Gordon if the Royals are. I dunno. But Stanton and Price will cost more than those guys, and they're big question marks right now.
Also, yes, we could use another bullpen piece. Hopefully Soria, and possibly Feliz, will be of service in that regard. And everyone healthy, of course. I realize the odds of the Rangers making room for both of them aren't terribly good, but I would love the idea of Ian and Profar in the same lineup. Both of them are catalysts.
Wow-382 times on the DL is a lot. At a minimum of 15 day stay that is 5730 days on the DL.
What if Kershaw would like to come home? Would the Dodgers take something for him now, rather than get nothing at the end of 2014?
There's not a team that wouldn't love Kershaw. With the possible exception of Detroit and Seattle (if only for the figurehead), he would be the #1 pitcher on any team. The Dodgers know this, and sometime before he's free they will try to lock him up. They have about 382 trillion dollars to work with, and if he doesn't want to test FA just to see what he can get, they will almost certainly give him whatever it takes to stay there. I would not at all be surprised by a $200m+ extension.
That said, if he does test FA, there's pretty much no way the Rangers don't pursue him as much as or more than every other team. In the meantime, I think they're too all-in on the "win now" path to admit they weren't ready to contend and start dumping guys, even if that might be the better course of action for this season. And even if they did, they almost certainly would keep Kershaw and Kemp above anyone else.
some idiot thinks the dodgers would let go of kershaw. lmfao
Rangers need to look at renting a power bat for the pennant chase and playoffs.
Any ideas? I would think that this would be where saber metrics would be most helpful.
Wow. What a list of losers you want for the Rangers. Do you live in Oakland?here is why your idea is a disaster...1. Willingham. We have Cruz,Martin and Murphy. Although Murf down somewhat; by end of yea he will have made a contribution.2,Soriano. Capably described with his salary baggage as a 'white elephant'! has been.3. Garza...R U kidding me? He wasn't consistent even in his prime...win/lose two, etc, etc. We have already had one Cubbie and shipped hiom to Boston and he is even better than Garza ever was> (& having hard time in Boston also)--(Dempster)4. Morse???..No better than what we already have..no upgrade here.
Deal Kinsler for Shelby Miller and a lot of cash (for us--) Miller upcoming stud oitcher...youg & GOOD.
@Robby: that is exactly why St. Louis won't trade Miller. Also, they don't need Ian; Carpenter is holding down 2B quite well. Unless you were suggesting one of them should move to SS, their obvious position player spot for an upgrade. Your suggestion is pretty well as silly as the ones you're badmouthing.
Cliff Lee does not work for me unless it costs no more than a B prospect or Philly eats a lot of salary. I like Gordon but I'm sure I won't like his price, which will be high for a team that just paid Wil Meyer plus for Shields.
"badmouthing" because I chose to disagree? You sound like a politician..is your last name Pelosi?
