What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
BBTiA used to run circles around Lone Star Ball and Newberg. Now it's not even close to competing with Evan Grant's rough drafts (that says a lot because Evan is a fucktard). Thank you everyone for ruining what was a great site. RIP Joey
^ Funny, JD.
I agree, though, Pryor. I have been a Joey proponent for a while, and advocated that he'd be back before the season started. I think it is safe to say this thing is done. After 3 years of multiple visits per day, I think I may toss in the towel this week and move on.
Man, I agree with most of that. It's a real shame, too. I loved BBTIA. It was the balls. Come back Joey!
I guess the saddest part, and I've said this before, is that this site is (was?) just a handful of IP bans away from being fine. However, JD and Co. have effectively run off all of the regulars. Also, whoever the person is that has fabricated this whole JD story (family, workplace, etc.) is even more pathetic than the original JD/NTE.
Does anyone have any opinions on Newberg Report vs. Lonestar Ball? Might as well start spending some more time at one of those places.
I thought Newberg wasn't that great, and getting it via emailed drove me batshit crazy. LSB is a fine group of fans, but the articles IMO aren't that insightful. good place for discussion and general links to Ranger news, but not much in-depth saber artciles like we used to get here. If you're desperate for just a fan base to forum with online, LSB is fine, but I have't found a comparable to BBTIA in the good days regarding article quality and insight.
what happened to Joey?
I like Shutdown Inning. They're pretty good. If BBTIA was a 10, I put them at 7.5 right now, and they seem to be improving.
If BBTIA was a 10---lmfao
I like the redundancy in the title. If it's a website it has to be on the internet.
These yahoos trolling out the forums do not affect me. If you have an issue with JD and absolutely HAVE to respond to him because YOU JUST CAN'T HELP YOURSELF, then that's a shame. Personally, I'm under the impression that if everyone on here -- regulars and newjacks -- just stopped fueling JD altogether, he would die the natural troll death of natural causes. Otherwise, I still enjoy having baseball discussions on here with the people who still do visit.
From my own vantage point, I think I should have just as strong of a beef with Joey as anyone on here. When he asked for donations last year, I of course pitched in to help his cause. After all, I probably spend more time on BBTiA than any other site, tenfold, when it's fully functioning.
But think about it -- Matches has been supplying the most premium Rangers' content since 2008. That's 5 years. He's taken the Rangers, one of the best things in life that exists, and made the experience of following them even better. To me, it's disheartening to hear how selfish some of you are in saying you're willing to abandon the site, when (a) it's not as if you are married to ONE particular Ranger blog, and (b) 80% of you would be back posting here in an instant if Joey/MJH/someone else began updating the page on a regular basis.
That's what's nonsensical to me.
Like Joey said once Michael Young was traded:
And yet, in spite of that, in spite of his sub-replacement value in 2012 and the plaintive wailing over his defense and the frustration over his contract and the lingering bad feelings that arose from his trade demands in 2009 and 2011 ... he was ours, you know? He developed from a solid, but unspectacular prospect into a fringe star who made some really cruddy Rangers teams during the early- to mid-aughts more fun to watch, he emerged as a legitimate team leader (even if the local media did go overboard in its deification of Young), and, ultimately, he was a successful piece of the core Rangers-watching experience for a very long time.
Joey is one of ours, you know? He's a piece of our Rangers-watching experience. I have no reason to turn away from that, or to implore him to dedicate more time to a bunch of unappreciative fans.
Joey doesn't give a SHIT about you guys.
This is the first time I've been back since the season started. Eric keep hope alive brother. LSB is the methadone to Joey's heroin - not a replacement but its a fix. Truely miss the passionate, intelligently written articles with on-point supporting visuals.
My personal feeling was that Joey stopped trying to come back once the whole newtown conspiracy crap got started on the Emile Parker thread. Could be wrong.
Guess if RIP Freel is still on the main page links at the ASB, that will officially donut forme.
Ha autocorrect. Do it, donut.
Everyone says they're going to stop coming here, then a few weeks later they come back only to say they are going to stop coming here.
Instead of complaining about the forum, how about someone takes 20 minutes out of their day to post a decent worthwhile topic for people to talk about. Rather than posting someone's name as the title and then following with the, "Trade him, he sucks, fire Wash, he's garbage, Stanton," same old same old. Is it because it's not on the front page for the world to see?
I challenge somebody to do it. I bet nobody steps up.
I'm glad to see you showing MY some love.
Sadly, you are right......BBTIA has become the worse Rangers website around. I use to so enjoy getting on here everyday, could not wait, now it is a sad joke of a site. Joey has gone off to who knows where and some of these people that comment on here don't know baseball from water polo! Just a site for grumpy sad people.........
Shutdowninning.com is where I go now. Just sayin'.
you need to get a life.
I like Shutdown, but I wish they had more discussion on their articles. Maybe they'll pick up steam at some point. LSB is good for news and okay for discussion.
Wow Andy-thnx for that wonderful input.
