What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
I know this has been hashed out before, but do the employees of ESPN participate in some sort of drinking game before posting their power rankings? Or do they have some secret in-house meth lab? We just swept the Red Sox, yet ESPN dropped us down from 1 to 2, with the BoSox replacing us at the top. LOLWUT
And this bothers you-WHY??
ESPN = trolling
Why has no one sued ESPN for false advertisement? Worldwide leader in sports my ass.
Probably not done this morning. More than likely it was Friday or maybe Saturday, before the Rangers swept the Sox. Last week, the Rangers were #1, despite having just dropped 2 to the Twins over the weekend, of all teams.
I like MLB's ratings right now. At least theirs is 25% fan-based.
All the records are updated, so I think that they were done between last night and this morning.
Its insane. We were ranked #1, sweep the #2 team, and then lose the top spot to the team we just swept. The comments on that page are pretty great. Fans from every team in the league, including the Red Sox, coming to our defense.
And even though Boston's schedule to this point has been tougher, it's still hard to justify jumping them ahead of the team that just swept them. The rankings on the Grantland page are better I think. I believe Keri has Detroit and Texas at the top, Boston at 4.
It's just like the media to do ridiculous things to generate energy, positive or negative. Worthy journalism is a thing of the past and writers, reporters, etc., are more interested in numbers than reality. Local radio is as bad as ESPN in that respect and perhaps even worse.
If Boston was in 1st previous to this week I could, maybe, understand them remaining in that top spot. But, the got scored 3 runs in 4 games and got shut-out in a "Hitter's Ballpark" and to wrap it all they were swept. This is no logic that can make this right. I would have been ok with the Cards being #1 seing that they are on a nice win streak. But , when the #3 power ranked team is beaten 3 days in a row, and them jumps the team in front of them, my mind keeps wondering "Does Skip Bayless make these rankings?" Or maybe Stephen A. either way this was ridiculous
^sorry for some of the bad grammar above. Was typing quickly before my meeting.
Is this all you baseball nerd turds have to be upset about?
On the video of baseball tonight, featured when clicking on the ESPN power rankings. They mention Texas sweeping the Sox, but don't seem to give a shit that the Sox are numero uno.
That post was about as useful as a poopy flavored popsicle.

Just because the records are up to date today doesn't mean the rankings were done this morning. You think all those quotes from various blog authors were compiled in an hour?
I'm not a professional journalist, so I don't know exactly how much time it takes to put together a piece like the power rankings. But I'd bet those rankings were decided before Saturday's game.
one of the higher-ups at ESPN said they weren't getting enough juice on twitter & they should do something about it
Where's NTE: I've never had a 'poopy flavored' popsicle. What are they like?
They taste like your mother's sweet cherry pie. LMFAO

Andy, as far as I know, they show these on Baseball Tonight (7pm CST Sunday nights). The Rangers game started at two, so even if they hadn't had time to update the rankings after the final game of the sweep, this still shouldn't have happened. Not counting Sunday afternoon's game, Boston had gone 3-3 after the previous rankings were released, and Texas went 4-2, with two of those wins coming against Boston. All it shows is that ESPN is really the Worldwide Leader pretty much a joke in terms of analysis.
Maybe ESPN was clairvoyant enough to know we would lay down against the Cubbies while Boston had a walk off against the Twinkies? If so, good call on their part.
The BBTN podcast has explained recently that these power rankings are often voted for a couple of days beforehand (for whatever reason). That's why Red Sox were on top.
Who gives a shit?
Complete morons do not give a shit.
You give a shit or you wouldnt post numb nuts.
Yes, and you don't give a shit...meaning you are a complete moron. Thanks for confirming. LMAO!!!
