What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
These two jokers need to get their act together. Their BA is not only low, but ludicrous. Pitiful and pathetic are the best way to describe these two. Unfortunately, Beltre is cold but at least he comes thru every once in a while. Thank God for the pitching. Of course, Holland could have made a statement today with a great effort, but inconsistent once again. He did have no run support, but basically this year, not many pitchers are getting any run support.
Yep, things are so bad that yesterday we shared the AL's best record.
OF and 1B are two position you need to get production from, and we're not. While we may have one of the best records & run diffs in baseball, this will be our Achilles heel unless JD decides to trade for a 1B (or Olt steps up), or Murphy and Baker platoon in LF.
The team isn't exactly getting any production out of their hybrid CF either. Really apart from Nelly, AJP, Berkman, and Kins the offense isn't producing lots.
16-8 you idiots with 2 top relievers out. also 2 starting pitchers out. move along.
I've said in other forum posts that I'm pretty much done with Moreland and Murph. I'm ready to see some production from those positions too, but to say these jokers need to get their acts together just screams of unwarranted jr high dramatics. This team will be fine. Take a deep breath and go ask that girl to the school dance.
As I said on Newberg Forums early today...
Making Murphy a full time OF against both RHP and LHP was interesting, but I think we need to consider platooning him again. He got the full time job by posting a wRC+ against lefties of 129 in 2012. That was mainly carried by a .433 BABIP. Here are his 2012 platoon numbers:
LHP: 6.0 BB%, .433 BABIP, .093 ISO, 129 wRC+RHP: 11.2 BB%, .314 BABIP, .191 ISO, 126 wRC+
Career platoon splits:
LHP: 6.2 BB%, .317 BABIP, .092 ISO, 74 wRC+RHP: 9.2 BB%, .312 BABIP, .191 ISO, 117 wRC+
I think that its clear at this point that he cannot hit for power, OR walk against left handed pitching. And its absurd to think that he will BABIP over .400 against them any more. He should really be seeing the bulk of his PAs against righties.
Not that I expect that to ever happen. Our manager is infamously stubborn (see: Michael Young).
If I was Wash I would just play Baker at IB (or LF) against lefthanders. Baker seems like a pretty good hitter that might thrive getting morre ABs. But platooning Moreland is basically be admitting that he's not the answer and will never hit LHP. Of course Wash isn't ready to go there yet.
Olt's regression totally sucks, but I think he was over-rated by most Rangers' fans (and the organization) anyway so it's not that surprising. Just hoping he can comei around this year or next. Shipping out Chris Davis for basically a rental turned out to be a highly questionable move, which I stronlgy disagreed with at the time.
Unfortunately I really think they need to start thinking about Kinsler moving to 1B or possibly LF. Problem will be convincing him to do it.*
*Yet he will totally get a free pass around here [lol] if he ultimately refuses to consider it. (unlike MY who raised a couple of stinks over being moved, but ultimately SACRIFICED for the team by agreeing to change posistions 4 times.
That's spot on. Ultimately, if the club plans on keeping Profar, Kins will HAVE TO MOVE. How he handles this is in question. My guess is that it's going to be problematic.
I think this club is still very interested in Giancarlo Stanton.
On the bright side, the superb performances that we have gotten from Tepesch, Grimm and Scheppers have not only helped to mitigate spotty offense, it has increased the club's flexibilty with possible player movement.
Of the three, Scheppers, in my opinion, is a keeper. Tepesch has looked very impressive. So has Grimm. But people haven't figured them out yet.

I still like where we're sitting here. We have trade chips and we have holes.
Let's assume that Lewis, Perez and Harrison all wind up healthy this year. Harrison and Lewis wind up in the rotation with Darvish, Holland and Ogando. That leaves Tepesch, Grimm and Perez as available trade pieces.
Out of those three and Profar, JD ought to be able to address our issues at 1B or OF hitting LH pitching.
I see this glass as half full. We're identifying or clarifying the needs on the team, we have prospects proving their worth at the major league level and we're in first place.
Should be interesting to see how it plays out over the next several months.
Gay: I agree. The front office will do their homework and the Rangers will be just fine.
The pitching has been dominant. The bats will have to step it up soon, I doubt Tepesch and Grimm will keep pitching like they are.
DUH! Thnx Capt Obvious
if daniels does not threaten to fire wash unless he cleans up the base running idiocy, he is doing this team a disservice
wow. get guys on and actually hit them in. wonder what that feels like
say hello to 0-2
Ogando has two walks today; both scored, and both were with outs already posted in the inning. Walks kill.
told ya. pitching has been awesome. cant expect much w/ a SUCK ASS offensive performance like '13 so far. WE SUCK. YES, even being in 1st place. the writing is on the wall. will be a slow, painful decent if we cant hit and make these idiotic base running decisions
learn before you flap your gums
I'm surprised it took so long for an anti-Murphy/Moreland thread, though it's quite typical - knowing how Rangers' fans tend to operate.
If you remember before the season - which you should, since I do - Mitch Moreland was getting a ton of support from Ranger fans. His spring training numbers were even being used as justification for why he's all of a sudden so much better in 2013 than in any other season. My favorite Moreland line has always been "He just needs consistent at bats at first base." Ha!
The sabermetrics "nerds" on here, like RFan and Eric (or at least I've seen the most content from them), constantly got ridiculed for their distastes for Murphy and Moreland. And they were right. The numbers don't lie.
But I never see either of them post on here anymore, so who knows. I just don't think it's right for fans to go from saying "They need to play everyday to get good against lefties" to essentially "They suck" in less than a month.
I don't think it's right to lump every fan together. Unless you cite specific names for whose who supported them playing everyday, your argument has no backbone.
You're both idiots
You are focusing on the wrong part of the story. If you aren't part of the reactionary faction of Ranger fans, then what I wrote doesn't apply to you.
