What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
After watching Jerruh make yet another mockery out of the Dallas Cowboys on draft day, I have come to realize just how blessed we are that the Rangers are playing really well. Here's to the Rangers making another deep playoff run to take the focus off of how bad the Cowboys are going to be.
In other news, are there any semi-decent 1B out there available for a trade? Moreland has been pathetic, and Olt clearly isn't ready for a full-time call-up yet.
Isn't it funny how the Cowboys and Rangers have traded roles?
I'm not going to say I know a lot about the NFL cause I don't. From what I've read, the cowboys didn't have cap room to sign a top draft pick, ended up trading down for an extra pick and still assessed their problem at O Line by drafting a flexible center from Lineman University Badgers who also was an engineering and math major who pretty much single handedly called the teams blocking assignments from the line of scrimmage. Seemed acceptable to me.
Min, it's really a value issue and Jones got screwed last night.
A few years ago Jones gave up a third rounder to move up THREE spots to get Dez Bryant. Last night they got fleeced into accepting only a third rounder to move down THIRTEEN spots when they had an extremely solid D-lineman staring them in the face. The Cowboys then got caught with their pants down and got stuck with thin pickings at safety, O-line and D-line.
Moving down for more picks would be a nice plan for a team that actually knows how to draft but the Cowboys have been so awfully bad at picking anyone after the first round that more picks for them doesn't help in the least, cause the evidence is that none of them will be around in three or four years, which means more signing old and broke vets that don't perform, which means more and more years of mediocrity from my fave team.
To echo the OP, yes it is nice that the Rangers have a top front office in the game, a front office with an actual plan, a front office that puts the team first and not stroking the ego of the know-nothing GM. I'll cheer for the Cowboys and I hope they do well, but I'm done investing my money and emotions into that team. I'm all Rangers because they actually care about winning ball games.
Oh, and I'm about done with Moreland and Murphy. Me thinks that both wont be around next year. That'll be some fun hot stove talk when the time comes.
Should've taken Floyd out of Florida with the 18 pick.
Man not only did Jerry get fleeced on that trade (St Louis got a 2nd and like a 4th rounder to move from 22 to 30), but then he reaches for a 3rd round talent with a first round pick.
The cowboys will regret not taking Floyd. The Gators had the arguable best defense in the SEC, and he was a consensus top 6 talent in this draft, and definitely a consensus first round talent.
I seriously hope this pick works out and I'm proved wrong. Honestly, I do. I just can't see Frederick turning out to be better than Floyd, or even Matt Elam.
Good Grief-can we wait till training camp to start bitchin and moaning?
A tight end?
Not just a tight end. A 4th round talent, pass catching tight end, who cannot block at all. Taken in the 2nd round.
You know, this is just making me more of a Rangers fan.
there is aggressiveness and stupidity. we are being stupid
this ump is trying his hardest to get min back into the game
The aggressniff of this team is impressive. I can't believe they display such digressizness
Centers don't usually go in the first round, which makes me skeptical of the value of that #30 pick. I personally would have rather seen Jerry pick Reid at #18. Sigh...
And then we get a TE who is a below average blocker with average athletic ability in the passing game. Ugh. I guess we will have to wait and see, but from what I hear about the guy, I wonder if he can even beat out James Hanna.
And then we get maybe one of the better valued picks by any team in the draft. An exceptionally productive reciever who is big, physical, and athletic. A lot of people pegged Williams as a mid or early 2nd rounder. Maybe he can show that under achiever Miles Austin the bench.
And then we get a guy who played one year of safety in the FCS. Don't know anything about Wilcox, but this pick gives me Owusu-Ansah PTSD problems.
