What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
I just saw the line up for todays game and both Gentry and Martin are in the outfield. Martin in CF and Gentry in Right with Murphy playing Left. Now with out making a federal case out of this of the three wouldn't it be Murphy who should be in Right?Again it's a spring training game but it just struck me as odd.
The correct outfield alignment for the Rangers in 2013 is Gentry, Martin and Murphy, with Cruz on the Ottumwa Cadets. If so, I don't mind which is in LF or RF, so long as Murphy is not in CF. You just KNOW, that if Cruz is on the team, Cruz will play almost every game that Cruz is healthy, and this would be a mistake, given his defense, and given the youth of Martin and speed and defense of Gentry. I could agree to a most time Murphy/Cruz platoon, but who wants to use a $10 Million player as a RH batting platooon outfielder with terri-horrific defense?
Gentry has better range, but Martin has the better arm. If it were a regular season game, I'd have Gentry in CF and Martin in RF. But Martin needs as many CF reps as he can get right now.
the new but definitely not improved NTE...
Murphy has the weaker arm, it essentially comes down to that.
this guy w/ matt hicks is a million times better than dalgan. hope he replaces him this yr. also, matt hicks is a keeper
Arm strength ...I agree with crow
"Martin needs as many CF reps as he can get right now."
This is the important point here. Gentry is already established as a CF. We could throw him out there every day if we need to. He might not do as well against RHP as LHP, but he could probably play the majority of the time.
Martin has looked pretty good, but needs more practice than Gentry. If I were making the optimal lineup, I would definitely opt for Gentry in CF and Martin in RF, of those 2. Also, Murphy seems comfortable in LF. His stats in RF, albeit a much smaller sample size, aren't as good. He was quite good in LF in 2012; as long as he's in the lineup I think that's where he needs to be.
Good Lord, getting your panties in a wad over who starts a meaningless ST game.
^^^^go get yer shine box, boy
Wow, an idiot racist-go figure.
Listen...I run this show. Go angels.
I believe Gentry has the best arm of those three. Plus, Craig's speed is more advantageous in rightfield than switching he and Murphy. Considering that the Rangers want Leonys to be that centerfielder they've been longing for, I understand what they're doing.
That throw by Gentry to 3rd was sweet, even if the baserunning was bad.
Our O looks like it did yest vs SF. we will compete for the cellar. only missing kins and nellie. not going to make enough of a diff and undependable pitching (holland, ogando and 5th). going to be a long season
way to go, olt. and now, elvis down 0-2. cant get a guy in fm 3rd after seeing the pitcher 3 times. miserable
prepare to see a lot of those camera shots showing the last ranger to hit in an inning talking to anderson opining over his poor at-bat. sigh
if you are not depressed by what you are seeing in ST, you are not watching correctly
good grief. the batch of pitching tripe we have is just depressing. our nothing-to-lose-to-look-at guys NEVER work out. unlike the effing As
oh wait. forgot we are in las vegas. probably just not sharp due to jet lag. i take back everything i've said
someone pls get a message to these cubs pitchers. CUT YOUR EFFING HAIR
the fact that we are even looking at sheppers says volumes about our talent
