What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Maybe Hubs is really George Will/writer-baseball fan? I think that's a nick name of his.
Or not that eric--in drag
Terri-come on, is that all you got?
Kins will become the object of our discontent this year, replacing MY
OMG, Matt Hicks is GREATNESS. nadel leaving on a jet plane...
Kins will become the object of our discontent this year, replacing MY.
This is entirely possibly. Should Nolan Leave, I'm kind of under the impression the fan base will go very sour on Jon Daniels -- and should Ian Kinsler underperform for a 2nd consecutive season (conflated by the Rangers underperforming as well) -- that he will be the goat.
With Daniels, the perception (if Nolan leaves) will be that he is the evil villain.
With Kinsler, people just like Michael Young -- the #Face -- more. That's all.
* entirely possible
Hubs talked about all this in December. I think Hubs knew and had it correct all along.
That's because HUBZ goes into the clubhouse. LOL
Well Dan & others, aren't you the master(s) of your own small universe? If this is your lot in life & the intelligence factor hovers on double digit, then carry on. You lend so much to a conversation.I'm sure a personal meeting, face to face, with Daniels or even Ryan would be similar in context?I can understand a few quips here and there, but really... weeks? Still hiding your secret Playboy Mags?
Hey Gnats & Nerds................ NOLAN RYAN ain't leaving! TaaaDaaaaaaa - Wash is SAFE!
Personally, I'm a bit skittish to think that Wash's leadership is a correct choice to skipper this team. There should be the more than average amount of shuffling players to the game situation. That's notWash's style at all. Shuffle, besides a nice danceable blues tune, is not in RW's managerial vocabulary.
I can see where the whole 25 man team plays a huge roll in the expected success of the Rangers. Lessis not more, in that scenario. I really hope that Wash makes this team into a very aggressive ball team.
The power numbers are lacking. They're going to have to manufacture runs. Excel defensively and wear out a softer bullpen, due to the inability of starters not being able to hold the lower run line needed. That'sthe pressure that will be there. Playing in a ball park built for power, but with a team built around no power.
So you don't think AJ and Berkman replace the power of Josh and MY? GOOD LORD
In light of his abominable managing performance of last season, I agree with the OP that Wash will be on a short leash this season. To be specific, I can see him booted out by the ASB if:(a) The Rangers flounder early with more of the same "going through the motions" approach they had for the last half of 2012 (despite his supposed prowess at motivating players), (b) There continues to be a lack of accountability towards under-performing veteran players that are his favorites. (Remember his stubborn insistence that he would stick with M Young no matter what? Then Young dragged down the Rangers as Wash batted him high in the lineup and regularly featured his lousy defense in the field.) And/or(c) Wash doesn't utilize his roster to its optimal potential on both offense and defense.
But while I think the leash is short, especially in the areas outlined above, I don't see his demise as inevitable by any means. I think he could listen and learn from his past mistakes. (At least, I hope he can) So hopefully he will surprise us with much improved managing and perhaps some titles.
