Forum > Something Informative about our Rangers FO

Found this interesting and figured this site needed a jolt of tangible info on our Rangers amongst all the bullshit all over this place and Joey taking a sabbatical. Looks like a bunch of people (myself included) rarely visit this site anymore bc of it. Rangers are #3 in homegrown pitching within the last 5 years. Pretty interesting and cool read. Gives all the JD haters some real tangible evidence to chill out and let things play out. Lets hope JD, our FO, and scouting department keep it up.

Hope all is well with ST getting into gear. Cheers.

Very interesting table in the article. Especially that except for TB (Price) and LAD (Kershaw) have most of their homegrown WAR concentrated in a few players. Also interesting how relatively unproductive talent is around the league based on WAR/pitchers.

I agree, JD & crew has found some good young arm talent. The FO has made appropriate moves
in building a support staff, with the bullpen. The acquisition of Darvish was a huge plus for Rangers.
Overall, Daniels has built a contender with a future of winning.

Baseball has more focus as a business enity now. Still, it all comes down to plugging in players
that can compete and focus on winning thier division. As good as out pitching farm is, we are slight
in available, mature COF'rs. It's all about timing and replacment- which include timely trades also.

If Daniels is under an amount of scrutiny, then it is because the organization planted the "compete
for championships" seed in our fans demeanor. Do we expect more? Sure, because so does Daniels.
Patience is a virtue in our Ranger team. You don't win in the Winter. We're not going to be "Flash & Dash"
in our dealings most times. Building the right quotient, focus on "team concept" over "mega-star", willpay
dividends over the long & even short haul.

GM Daniels is a job, not a rock star. Product on field will have integrity. We will have players that believe
and want/will play the game of baseball with determination to win. Most are All Stars or All Star caliber.
The talent is there. We are new to winning flags & pennants. The focus is there to continue and strive
to be on top of the AL, not just our division. The TexasRangers won't be a mere cliche'. The WS is our goal.
It Shall Be.

Agreed, but where's the horse trader in Daniels. How many teams in the MLB and JD
couldn't conjur up a trade for a corner w/bat? Really???? I can understand NOT getting
Grienke or finding a TORP, but 37% of our HR production iws gone. We have no COF
on the farm to bring up. I expected more from Jon Daniels. Now, Nellie maybe out 50g!
Sorry... FAIL

Maybe he's got enough faith in the young guys that he Didn't feel he needed to give up all star talent. How about you let the season play out before you call JD out for failing. I'm betting he knows more than you do.

I personally find it comical that your name is the "Ghost of J. Hart" and you're bashing JD.
And Nelly may not be suspended 50 games. Most of the evidence is pretty weak, especially when it's from a disgruntled fired employee. They're gonna have to suspend all of them, or none of them. Good luck.

I'm not bashing JD. It's his job to improve US. It's just my opinion that one small move wasn't made.
I don't think I stand alone in my opinion. Fail may be too large an adjective. I'm looking for faith, as U.
As a two time AL Champion, I feel the Rangers could be a tad stronger "on paper" as season starts.
I'm looking forward with antisipation, as all are in here.

Wait a second here. "Ghost of J. Hart" calls fail on JD?! Hart brought in such huge impact players as Caminiti, Galarraga, broke the bank, traded our farm system, and set us up for almost a decade of 70 win seasons...

Yet, hestill works for the Rangers. Are you confusing a poster with the former Ranger GM?
Hello Nerd, come back to reality. He's giving an opinion only, not rescrewing a baseball club.
How's your Fantasy League doing?

Easy there, PT... I believe he was pointing out the "assumed identity" of the poster mirrored one that, pretty much, disgusts anyone in Rangerland who knows anything about the game of baseball.

I doubt he believed that truly was Cleveland's former starchild. Certainly wasn't ours...

Home runs are nice, but pitching wins more games. If the Rangers can pitch well enough, they won't need to hit dingers all the time to win. This is a pitching era, so the price of power is sky-high. I don't blame the Rangers for not beating out LA (prematurely?) on Josh, or Boston on Napoli. If it were one or the other (not both or neither), I'd much rather the Rangers had spent $150m on Greinke than $125m on Josh, even if I didn't expect some precipitous decline on Josh's part. Not having that dinger power being replaced is hardly the top thing I'd gripe about.

You could argue the Rangers ought to have had a decent idea how much Greinke and Hamilton would eventually cost, and that, based on how much they were prepared to spend on either of them, they should have bowed out sooner and set their sights a little lower, and maybe they would have gotten somebody sooner. That's a legitimate criticism. It would probably be better to gripe about that than why they didn't overpay for Josh and Napoli, or even Greinke or Sanchez.
