I'm probably an idiot, but isn't Dallas Braden worth taking a flyer on? I know he got hurt last season, but he's an unrestricted free agent. I'm just surprised that no one has signed him yet.

Shoulder injuries are funny. We can fix elbows easily. Shoulders seem to be much more problematic. If you can get him cheap and on a minor league deal I wouldn't be opposed. But if he is looking for decent money or a major league deal I think you have to pass on him.

Agree with JKolar: shoulders aren't quite a death sentence for pitchers, but the return rates aren't as good as Tommy John. Usually it turns guys who throw 94-95 into guys that throw 89-90. Dallas Braden, and correct me if my perception is wrong, only throws 86-88 to begin with, so I don't really know how one would project that.

But again, like JKolar said, if we could get him for $500-$750K plus incentives if he makes the Major League roster, why not?
