Harold Reynolds' opinions and reality are not correlated in any way. There is no reason to discuss or even think about them.

Rather then dis a fellow Hokie, in the future I will refrain from commenting on blatantly 'Mitch Williamish statements' that wins are not important, and is faulty thinking. Winning in baseball is the only stat that has real meaning and is measured by a team's pitchers W-L. This is like saying you rather have Cliff Lee's 6-9 to Derek Holland's 12-7 season. Yet 6-9 men will finish a team probably last and 12-7 mean will get you in the playoffs.

^^^^^^
That might be the dumbest thing I've ever read. Do you honestly not think that if Lee had been pitching for a team that could score some runs, like us, he wouldn't have win more games? Honestly, that might be the most ignorant thing I've ever read since coming on this forum.

What was Lee's record as a Ranger? 4-6 as I recall Romro. Your posts are the most ignorant things I read on here.

And without lee Texas would've never gone to their first WS. Do you ever make a post that isn't a complete failure?

i have to agree that les' comments above are difficult to take seriously. i had a discussion with a friend once who tried to convince me that wins were more important than ERA along the lines that there are certain pitchers who inspire their team to play better when they're out there. NO.

King Felix won the 2010 Cy Young with a 13-12 W-L record. I guess he actually wasn't very good and didn't help his team very much. Oh wait, he had a 2.27 ERA and 30 quality starts. Maybe if he had only cheered louder from the dugout while the M's were hitting they could have been a better team.

As for would you rather have Holland or Lee last year, let's see. There's the traditional stats:

Lee: ERA 3.16, BB/9: 1.19, K/9: 8.83
Holland: ERA 4.67 BB/9: 2.67 K/9: 7.44

Then there's the fancier stuff:

Lee: xFIP: 3.06 WAR: 4.9
Holland: xFIB: 4.14 WAR: 1.7

Seems like an easy choice to me. In fact, the only two stats on the dashboard for each player on FanGraphs besides W-L where Holland beat Lee were GB% and BABIP, which is almost as unindicative of a pitcher's true performance level as W-L record is.

Here's an enlightening article on this very topic. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/index.php/cliff-lee-just-cant-buy-a-win/

Check his performances in the post season through the ALCS. Fail more Putz.

4-6

Guys, i want to apologize for all of the things i have ever written on bbtia. If they weren't tacky and hurtful they were completely moronic and didn't make any sense whatsoever. I am now admitting that i know nothing about baseball and obviously contribute nothing to society. For crying out loud, i get my rocks off by being an @sshole on the internet. I blame it on having an abnormally small penis. I would go kill myself but i don't have the testicular fortitude. The world and the internet would definitely be a better place without me. I wish mom would hurry up and bring me my spaghettios, i'm starving...

@Romeo - Give it a rest. Do you like seeing Not that Eric's posts littering the board? No? Neither does anyone else, so stop encouraging him. Be above that shit.

It's honestly not me the vast majority of the time. That last long one wasn't me. NTE has just trolled so much that people have started trolling him back and he cries like a bitch about it.

"Winning in baseball is the only stat that has real meaning and is measured by a team's pitchers W-L."

You take the word "pitchers" out of that sentence and you have a good statement, and one that doesn't mislead anyone into thinking you're giving much weight to a pitcher's W/L record, which isn't a good stat for much.

The Rangers won 93 games and lost 69. Not coincidentally, Rangers' pitchers won 93 games and lost 69. I checked on it, just to make sure. The team's W/L record is important, not any individual pitcher's.

Only person I even pay attention to on MLB Network is Brian Kenny. His show "Clubhouse Confidential" is really great and is pro SABR. I dont think Dan Plesac is that bad either. Either way, its a lot better than ESPN

Romro:;
Whine for us! But seriously I know that wasn;t you because there were no homophobic statements which seem to be your trademark

February 15, 2013 at 12:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterNot that Eric

Here is the best way I know to describe Romro. If he were a FREE AGENT he would be non-tendered.

February 15, 2013 at 12:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterNot that Eric

I'm telling you it's very rarely me.

February 15, 2013 at 12:37 PM | Unregistered CommenterRomeo212000

You've just managed to troll the board enough that they're trolling you back and now you're whining like the bitch you are.

February 15, 2013 at 12:50 PM | Unregistered CommenterRomeo212000

@Not that Eric

And when the tables are turned, you democraps do the same damn thing. It's a two sided coin. STFU and talk baseball. Your political views aren't wanted here.

It's my sincere hope that when this site kicks back into gear in a week or so, that both of you are banished from trolling on here.

February 15, 2013 at 1:10 PM | Unregistered Commentereric reining

I'm honestly not trolling. Most of the trolling on NTE is being done by several other posters who are just giving him a taste of his own medicine.

February 15, 2013 at 1:16 PM | Unregistered CommenterRomeo212000

This bad trolling makes me miss Ricky in Fort Worth.

February 15, 2013 at 1:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterAndy

Ricky was just funny, because his trolling was innocent. It was just the way he was.

Not that Eric clearly has clearly had something against me for a long time. He used to be Jim B. and Jay, and I also think he was Carlos, as well as a litany of other aliases. Anyway, it took me a while to stop responding to him, but now it's fun to appreciate how funny he is.

But when Romeo constantly responds to his drivel, it keeps NtE alive. If there weren't people like Romeo -- who, as an aside, I typically agree with a lot of his baseball points -- then NtE would starve to death and eventually leave. He feeds on people like I used to be, like Romeo is, to continue throwing kerosene on his fire.
