Forum > How to fix this site
Well if Joey doesn't come back and start writing articles again (or at least get someone to do it) this site will be lost soon. I'm giving it 46 more days then I'll move on for good.
I can't believe pitcher and catchers reported and we still got nothing??

I'm done with this site.
RangerFan
I am done with this site also.

An ignore would go a LONG way. Format needs revamping too.

I find myself checking it on maybe a weekly basis now. I imagine I'll stop checking back at all in a while.
DJ Cahill
Unfortunately, I'm only on here about once a week too hoping for a new article. I'm disappointed every time. Anyone know of another site to check out for the Rangers?

Some of you guys should listen to yourselves. Since when has BBTiA taken itself seriously? This is the same site that invented PADMY. Everyone hates Ron Washington and everybody is in love with Jon Daniels.
I'm speaking in generalities here, but you get the point.
Basically, most people who are heavily into BBTiA care deeply about the Rangers, so what's the point of abandoning it? We better understand the full scope of baseball -- from scouting to business to management to the actual ML team -- because of Matches and MJH. That isn't the type of information center you want to leave, because you won't find it anywhere else.
I'm kinda not really feeling how some of you acting unappreciative, in my opinion.

I've come here multiple times a day, every day, since May 2010. I don't have any chance of just walking away from BBTIA because Joey is MIA and a bunch of trolls are running rampant. This place is a drug.
Baseball season will get here, Joey will be done with busy season, and all will be right with the world. Just give it time...
Rangerbourne
I agree that this is a great site to discuss the Rangers. I miss the articles though.
JustinB
I agree eric. I appreciate your input.
As good as Joey is and can be, it's the intermingling of the participants in OUR forum.
I, for one, can handle the goofs & misfits that have no real input. My skin is not thin.
I can read/absorb eric, Andy, Scooby and may others without ruffled feathers.
I can even take the the critics of my use of writing... even splellllll'n too.
Most the time you ALL give me insight and a different perspective. Why throw a forum away
or trash it, when the trash can be overlooked? Bullies & trolls are best overlooked and ignored.
Check your own self out, not others. Is this forum about BASEBALL or is it about you?
I will continue to show my face here and try to contribute, even though disagreement will be
sure to surface. It's point v. counterpoint in my opinion. It's about Ranger Baseball, not Hubz.
Hubz
This place is a drug.
This.

so what's the point of abandoning it?
I've been here every day for 3+ years. I've watched the contributors here go from educated, rational, open-minded individuals to a group goons that can't take criticism, buy into national media memes, and are too preoccupied with this ongoing game of "My dick is bigger than yours" to even discuss baseball.
Without mods, writers and a group of contributors who can actually contribute without getting trolled, this site has become the Halos Heaven of Ranger websites. It's unfathomable to me that BBTiA has come to this. Here's to hoping the darkest days are behind us...

@Eric
I don't think people are unappreciative....but realistic. It seems pretty obvious that the days or daily insightful posts from Joey are gone. The site is currently a forum for about two dozen active posters with many of the posts little more than name-calling.
"That isn't the type of information center you want to leave, because you won't find it anywhere else."
At one time, yes, we found compelling insights here. But not anymore, so what's the motive to continue returning? To prop up a corpse of a site whose creator can no longer give the commitment that made it the great site it was?
You can't fault people for not coming here. And please don't claim that these forum posts are equivalent to the focused, well-researched posts from Joey and Michael. I find most of these forum posts to be inane, with very little insight. Folks like Not That Eric make reading through the forum painful, unsatisfying...and thus I (and others) stop coming.
Pretty simple...so I can't understand your sensitivity on this.
MrMan
MrMan, That's fine. I suppose it's just a matter of interpretation. I know I used to learn a lot on the forums from guys like Scooby and RFan, and obviously site posts from Joey and Mike. The truth is, all the knowledge is out there. We've all been educated well enough to draw our own, objective conclusions.

Maybe in this time of no news of much consequence, we should find a way to fill the time. Somebody teach a course on sabermetrics!
Andy
Eric your right this was and can be a site for information and discussion but right now we lost that. Even in the post where actual info is being discussed all the yawns, what he said and the other ridiculous trash being thrown out there to waist time has made it almost unreadable. I honestly think once there is actual news out there and the chats come back the rif raf will be banished and we can get back to baseball. Also I'm planning on sticking around until opening day but if things don't change I fear all might be lost.

I don't know about a lesson but I would like to learn more about sabermetrics. If anyone can recommend any books or online sites I can go to read more about them and get a better understanding it would be greatly appreciated.

Agree with many of you. I sincerely hope this site returns to true form, because I really enjoyed it last year (including the forum posts). I don't post very often but do enjoy reading the discussions between some of the active posters here. I am in the same boat as Joe C. I will certainly stick around until the season starts to see if this site becomes what it used to be. If not, I suppose it will be time to move on.

I too would like to learn more about SABR. Presented in a way that is not condescending. SABR 101 if you will. How does the SABR system compare: Ozzie Smith to Alan Trammel to Barry Larkin to Pee Wee Reese to Cal Ripken to Derek Jeter?

We need to create a posting just for the trolls and keep them caged in it. People like Not that Eric, Special Ed Agent Ricky (no relation), and the rest of their roster can post all the craziness they want and antagonize each other as long as they don't stray outside their cage. As a compromise, the rest of us promise to visit from time to time to feed them. Everyone wins!
