Forum > Profar to center

Because of his athleticism, the front office as a whole has decided to temporarily move Profar to center. He will stay here until we trade Andrus.

Yep. Joey Matches should just become a contributor at another site and turn the lights off here. February is almost half over and no new posts on the month.

Kinda disappointed pitchers and catchers are reporting but no life on this blog. It used to be a good one. Thinking about taking it out of my bookmarks...........

I actually have some mixed feelings about this after reading the link... While I dont want to move Profar from his natural position I am absolutely a fan of having competition in Spring Training. I see no reason that Olt cant show up in Spring Training and completely take the job from Moreland.

If Profar is ready to play at the big league level and he does the most good for the Rangers in Centerfield then why not?

I think that the point of the article is not that the Rangers are going to give Profar and Olt the oppurtunity to win a spot (any spot) on the team but it is just as much the front office sending an annoucement to everyone on the team not named Beltre, Kinsler or Andrus that they need to be ready to come to camp and compete for their spots because none of them are guaranteed.

you know the idea of profar at center intrigues me alot lets pretend for a minute that cruz gets suspended(i dont find it likly) then you can slot martin to right and not lose much atleast if this years cruz is like last years cruz from a war standpoint.

Reports say Jurickson's foot speed is very good (50) and his arm is very, very good (60). Now, will he get a good read on balls hit into the OF? We'll have to see. The better the jump, the better the range. The better the angle taken to get to the ball, the better the range.

50 in flat-out foot speed wouldn't translate to "elite" CF range without extraordinary skills in the "jump" and "angle" categories. But, it would be a good CF and an outstanding RF - depending on how he reads those fly balls.

We now know that moving Profar to the OF is a misnomer. Daniels stated, if Profar has a chance to make
the MLB Club, it will be as an infielder. Let's hope he dose not op in for the world tourny, but goes to ST.
