What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Looks like Hamilton's arm was overrated, I still miss his bat http://www.bsports.com/statsinsights/mlb/best-base-runners-and-outfielders-part-2-worst-outfield-arms-of-2012
I think most know Hamilton wasn't that great of a defender. Particularly as a cf.
Trout's on the list too, so look for a lot of extra bases being taken
That's if Trout doesn't happen to get to the ball first....
It's been a while and I can't get the mental image in my head, but maybe Josh is slow to rear back and throw. That split second can make a huge difference, just like it does when a runner is deciding whether to steal.
So, question: is it better to have a cannon that takes forever to fire, or a noodle that gets rid of it quickly?
Nobody wants a noodle.
Josh also wasn't that accurate. Big arm, but seldom delivered to the address specified.
I distinctly remember Hamilton making several mental mistakes by throwing home to try and get the lead runner out but instead letting the batter reach second while never really even coming close to getting the lead runner out.
I seem to remember that too.
To me that is just another part of the Hamilton is a player of massive physical tools and minimal craft. He could have been an all time great if he hadn't lost the formative years of his career. What could have been of course if that had happened we likely never get him here.
we can pick him to pieces now that he is gone, but we will miss him in the lineup...
