Not sure. He spend most of last year in AAA, and didn't put remarkable numbers of any sort. He was a top 20 prospect 5 years ago, but just hasn't contributed much of anything to the Rays since then. That being said, I suspect he'll be the odd man out in TB since they signed Kelly Johnson. I don't think I'd give up much for him (probably not even Borbon, as you suggest), but he would probably be a sure thing to make the team as middle infield bench.

Wait until he is on waivers, sign to minor league deal with invitation to Surprise, and if Olt and/or Profile are going to begin this season at Round Rock, compete with Baker, Snyder and Solarte for utility role. Just turned 27, a lefty middle infielder, with some power and size. But I would favor Solarte even tho Brignac is a shortstop and Solarte is not. But if Andrus goes down, the Rangers would call up Profar not go with Brignac. Every year there is a Brignac type that has some success, but it would not be with a contender, so the Astros or Mets would be a much better fit.

We need to pounce for such a bench player. He could end up having a WAR of 2.5...maybe even 3 this year.

He's still relatively young (27), and he would only be a bench player. The problems I have with him are the fact that he walks about as much as Michael Young, and strikes out a ton.

Also, with 4 years left before he hits free agency, I'm not sure what TB or TX's motivations would be.
