Discussions are great. Differences of opinion add to the flavor / fervor of the discussions. If your opinions are the same, all you're doing is yeah-yeahing each other.

So, I do appreciate that there are differences.

What shows a lack of ability in the art of discussion is to leave the ball on the field and go attack the other member in the discussion. This shows a distinct lack of maturity and an inability to provide any arguments to support your side. Since you snarked at the poster, your reasoning behind your "snarking" is left aside and all you do is show yourself to be childish and without a cognitive process that would allow you to counter the assertions of the other poster.

OK. But, in regards to what, exactly? Was there something in my post that you didn't like? Was there something in my post that offended you? Maybe there was truth in my post and you had no counter for it so you attacked me, instead. Exemplary conduct -- Not.

The only way we're going to be able to continue to get insightful, thought out offerings on a board that, currently, is rudderless, is to not run each other off.

I don't always agree with eric reining. I certainly don't like his, "I'm always right in my assertions so here it is..." condescensions, but I do applaud the thought he puts into his posts -- even those that come back and pick apart my posts. At least, he's picking apart what I said and not attacking me just for being "David Draggle".

There are a couple of guys posting on this board who are only here to tear down the Rangers and what the Rangers are doing. If someone makes an argument in favor of the Rangers, those couple of guys don't attack what was said, they just consider the poster as being stupid for not seeing things the say way they do. That's the way 12-year-olds argue. Grown-ups SHOULD have a little more to offer than that.

eric isn't the only one that provides thought-out insights (wrong as they may be... lol) -- there are others. Don't step on the poster. Tell us what you don't like about WHAT they said. If you can't do that, you don't have an argument and you can't win. If you THINK you're winning when all you're doing is driving the thinkers off your board -- you're not. All your doing is driving away those who would keep your board alive.

Then, you don't have a board.

Then, you have to go to LSB or ESPNDallas or, God forbid, that other board.

thanks David for writing that, very well spoken. I am an occasional poster who is a baseball addict and I really love the Rangers. This is a good site, but I get turned off by some of the attitude. I agree with everything you said and really appreciate the insight from others who focus on sharing information, data, analysis and opinions, when presented in a respectful way. We will not always agree, but no need for attacking another writer.

David, some people just want to see the world burn. No matter what anyone writes, there will always be someone to knock it down for no reason. The answer to that isn't to troll the troller. I've got no problem with people who don't agree with me, because if I'm saying things that everyone agrees with, or that no one agrees with, I'm doing something wrong. That means I'm not saying anything.

I do agree with your post and all, but it's not going to solve anything. In these days where Joey is off doing his real life thing, we have to police ourselves on this board, and the best way to do that is to ignore the trolls.

Love the post David! All of it true, there are 50 million views and if we really did not want to read others, we wouldn't come here. I decided a week or so ago to be polite and respectful even when someone is trying to get my goat. The ignorant posters I ignore-to respond to them only moves away from what I came here for. Please try to ignore anything that is nit part of a serious discussion and they will tire soon enough.

Another issue is that there is never any new articles or blog blurbs to post on. I'm glad Joey seems to have gotten a good job that takes up a lot of his time, but if he's not going to ever write anymore, he should give those responsibilities to someone who will.
