Really?

Yes, so is Kinsler.

"Black" Is a pretty vague term used to describe skin color, however I assume you mean African American. Many baseball players are from the Caribbean and from South/Central America. Several of the people in these regions are a mix between the spanish and portuguese who colonized the area, the Natives who lived there and any slaves which were brought over. from Africa.

Who cares? How many white players are on the Lakers?

January 29, 2013 at 4:52 PM | Unregistered Commenterkeystoner

not as many as on the timberwolves

If Profar is, the others are. Ditto Ogando and Feliz and Soria. All of them are from Latin America. When people say black, I assume they're talking about African-Americans, not Hispanics.

Oh, that's funny! See that TxBall? It's so funnnnnny! YAY

black has to do with skin color. you can be latino and black. is elvis black?

January 29, 2013 at 4:59 PM | Unregistered Commenterwingsofjoy

Well, if we're talking about skin color, then you'd have to include Beltre, Andrus, Feliz, Ogando and Profar as definite black people.

Then Martin, Cruz, Soto, Soria and Darvish as questionably black (because they're so goddamn cool).

And finally, there are the guys that are arguably black, like Kinsler, Berkman, and Pierzynski, because no one outside the organization likes them.

The only truly white player on the team -- now that Josh Hamilton is gone -- is David Murphy.

I met Mitch Moreland and he seemed really cool, so does he qualify as questionably black? Then again, since we're profiling, he is pretty slow, so never mind.

Being a staunch Baptist, I think you'd have to seriously consider Murphy as black also.

Oh holy hell. Asinine board clutter. What is the point of this? Are you writing a book? Geeze. Damn this is the slowest off season ever that this is the only topics we can come up with..?

I wish Roy Oswalt was still with Texas, he was black.

Wait a minute there Ktown. Does Mitch have a blonde wife? I think he does!
Moreland is at least milk chocolate then.

January 29, 2013 at 5:33 PM | Unregistered CommenterPT

Who cares? I don't know...don't count the ethnic groups. I just count wins and losses and this year that may not be much fun.

January 29, 2013 at 6:05 PM | Unregistered Commenterjwb

I'm black!

January 29, 2013 at 6:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterRomro212000

@ PT- I love milk chocolate. Maybe that's why I'm such a Moreland homer.

@ jwb- I think the sarcasm... the point most made, was that no one really cares how many blacks, whites, or latinos are on the Rangers, as long as they can play ball

Baseball needs to hurry up.

January 29, 2013 at 6:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterKtown

The sarcasm was great, but what a 1950's topic.
Baseball transcended color years ago.
Maybe we'll have a female U.S. President next election?

January 29, 2013 at 6:59 PM | Unregistered CommenterHubz

@ Hubz- I don't have a clue why the thread was started, but it appears to have run the course, and at least people can laugh about it now. Definitely don't want to talk politics and Hillary Clinton.

Another note, Hubz, if you remember wetfeet over on the Rangers board it would be great if you could give him a shout. There was a discussion the other day about long time posters and your name came up. He had heard from someone that you got cancer and had died. Several of us told him you posted here and judging by your writing style I'm assuming you're the same Hubz.

I did'nt die

January 29, 2013 at 7:48 PM | Unregistered CommenterRomro212000

And you're black. Noted. But by all means go say hi to wetfeet. I don't know if it will mean as much to him as if Hubz did, but whatever floats your boat.
