Forum > Nelson Cruz juicing?

Uh-oh, Nelson Cruz is one of the names listed in the report out this morning that a clinic out of Florida was distributing HGH to baseball players. Of course AROD was mentioend as another one, others include Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal, and Gio Gonzalez.

Not good Nellie, not good!

Sorry, did not notice the story on the home page before posting that.

Will be a long investigation from MLB. Not much time to make a possible
replacement decision. Too muich evidence to merely turn away & disregard.
Now Daniels is going to have to ACT in a multiple reaction, without demeaning
Cruz openly. A real sticky wicket. Thanks Mr. Cruz(though not guilty until...)

Kinsler and his bad ankle screws any choice of him moving to a corner.

Even if Kins had a good ankle, it would be stupid to move him to the OF.

He needs to take a ball off the nads, as poor a fielder as he is nobody would question it. More importantly, if he did that he would be able to legally juice. It's done wonders for Adrian Beltre's career.

^^^ So you think that since Beltre has only one nutt, he'd want to shrink the remaining healthy nad?
Brilliant

January 29, 2013 at 12:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterPT

No, I'm saying since he has one nut he's got a free pass from MLB to take testosterone among other drugs. So, whereas other players his age will see the normal/natural reduction in testosterone production, Adrian Beltre's doctors will make certain he doesn't suffer a similar fate.

I don't think Beltre intended to cheat, but he's certainly enjoying the benefits or rather the byproduct of his malady. There is no denying his career took a significant upturn after the incident. I bet if you asked him he would rather hit less and have both his nuts.

BTW, instead of the dismissive "brilliant" comment, how about you educate yourself a bit on how the body works and the effects of testosterone on a guy's grapenuts? Simply taking HCG will offset the shrinkage factor. HCG is the drug that got Manny popped a few years back.

Maybe this is why we didn't see Cruz in trade talks or rumors?
Daniels would be slammed by GMs by passing off (known) juiced goods.

It's a basic female hormone that Manny got busted with. Both shrink your nads.
You're being very out of bounds, by implicating Adrian Beltre with any type of juice.
You need to shut your pie hole with the rumor mongering. It's ambulance chaser BS.

Pitch, feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't think you know how the MLB deals with testing for synthetic test & how the body reacts to only having one testicle.

"Normal" test levels are something above 300 ng/dl (some ranges dip to 250) up to around 700 (some up to 800). If your body is producing an average of 400ng/dl with two testicles, after losing one, it will dip slightly then the other testicle will work to re up test at around 400 again.

Also, test is a bit like cholesterol--it can vary wildly throughout the day. Sometimes it will dip to the lower end of the spectrum and other times it will fly off the charts. When a regulatory regime (MLB, USADA, etc) wants to develop a test for synthetic test, they'll need to take a player's baseline test levels. This may involve 3+ samples to find an average.

After they'll then look for off-balance epitest/ test ratios. Admittedly, it's a crude test, but IF Adrian Beltre even needed prescription test, he'd be using something more like AndroGel, which is not epitest (synth test).

Note--I don't know how the MLB does it either, but I'm not sure there is any other way.

PT,

I'm not out of bounds by any stretch, I'm just aware of the facts.. Adrian Belte is one of 119 MLB players who have been granted therapeutic use exemptions, 116 of them for ADD, 2 for hypertension and one for Hypogonadism.

Feel free to live in denial but here is a link that posts the most recent statistics for those exemptions from MLB.com. Beltre isn't named as the lone testosterone recipient but you can likely find a link where he is listed by name I'm fairly certain.

mlb.com link: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/print.jsp?ymd=20121130&content_id=40478624
and a deadspin story that offers more than just the statistics and an explanation of Hypogonadism: http://deadspin.com/5964744/nearly-1-in-10-mlb-players-took-adderall-this-season

Nompton,

no idea what Beltre is taking whether it's synthetic or whatever -- but, he's not doing anything dirty. Dude lost a testical.

I tried not to laugh out loud when I read the word 'Hypogonadism'.

I failed.
