Forum > cardinals may be interested in trading holliday for andrus
A 33-year-old corner outfielder on a bloated contract for a perennial All-Star shortstop? You're joking, right?
I'm sure JD is laughing at such silliness, even if you aren't.
David
you forget to mention the "bloated contract" is pretty fair considering he has outperformed it and he is a perennial all star/MVP caliber hitter in his own right. I'm not saying I do it, but Matt Holliday is better than Elvis Andrus.
YP
If JD won't trade Elvis for three years of the 25 year-old Upton, I have a hard time believing he'll trade Elvis for 4 years and $68 million for a guy who's already 33.

Eric--what does Procarion mean?
2nd time poster.
Everything depends on the health of Furcal. If he is healthy, then the Cardinals do not need to go after Andrus. If he is not, then Andrus value to the Cards seriously rises. Holliday does replace Hamilton in run production and their ages are not far apart. Holliday's baseball age may even be considered even closer when factoring in Hamilton's missing years. Having posted that, the Cardinal's may even consider offering Taveras or Miller. But it all goes back to Furcal, and recent reports indicate he should be ready to go. However, should be is not will be.

It means that you should read the forum rules before having posted that flyer, Wings...

Your posts are about as LOW CONTENT as I have seen on here. And btw I've seen no mention of you being appointed "content police'.
Ricky in Ft. Worth
Hey everybody, it's Ricky! Welcome back, Ricky!!!11
Andy
I don't think that's the real Ricky. It's probably just one of the typical trolls impersonating.

LOLOLOLOL.
Now if we want to talk about Oscar Taveras for Elvis than thats different.

Well this forum has gone all to hell.

Let me clarify. Matt Holiday is a good player, he put up 4 WAR last year and that would have been higher if not for that abysmal defense. He put up an OPS of 877 last year which is actually DOWN from the last couple years. He would no doubt be a very successful player here in Texas and one who might finish top 10 in MVP voting (at least next year). I dont doubt that he would continue to be great this year and the next year but after that is when we should start to worry. He is signed through 2016 (his age 36 season) for 17 mil a year, including the a 17 mil option for 2017. That is a giant payroll commitment for a player soon to decline, and has kinda already started to decline. Not to mention he is a liability defensively. Dont get me wrong his bat adds another dynamic to this offense, but here is the kicker.
Why should we trade Elvis for a 32 year old Matt Holiday when we can trade him for a 24 year old Justin Upton?

Came in looking for Elvis for Shelby Miller... didn't see it, walked out of thread.

Oscar Taveras > Shelby Miller #realtalk

Real Ricky didn't use a period. Nor did he ever have a post less than three sentences long.
Also, everyone please stop posting scenarios in which we take on $15M+ salary. Shit ain't happening.
The_Henchmen
If you think the rangers wouldn't take Holliday on you are stupider than ur name hench man.
Not that Eric
I thought it was pretty obvious I wasn't serious. Yes, I'm pretty sure Ricky said he was from "Fort Worth", not "Ft. Worth".
And I don't see why the Rangers would trade Elvis for Holliday, at least, not without some substantial salary assistance. And why would the Cardinals undergo a salary dump? This does not seem like a match. This is less of a match than Justin Upton.
Andy

according to tr sullivan. would you take the deal?
