Because...

1) the Angels' have a TV deal with Fox that brings in nearly $150M / year ($2.5 Billion over 17 years) . The Rangers' extension is reported to be between $2.5 - $3 Billion over 20 years, which hasn't started yet and when it does is still less than the Angels' deal unless it's at or near the top of the reported ceiling.

2) most importantly, Moreno wants to win whereas the Rangers want to run their organization in a fiscally responsible way.

In just three to four years from now I expect the Rangers should be back on top of the division with a much brighter future.

I bet Angels fan don't feel that way.

Makes sense. But I think the main difference between Arte Moreno and the Rangers is that Arte wants to win NOW, doing virtually whatever it takes, and the Rangers seek to be a contending team each and every year for as long as possible.

Texas wants to win now, but with a monetary v. talent focus.
Most in here think Andrus needs to be traded because of his two
years left on contract. Maybe, just maybe Texas views Elvis Andrus
as LAD and/or NYY does, a damn good defensive SS. Also, maybe
the relationship between Texas and his agent are very good. If
not, why is Texas even contemplating Bourn and other Boros clents?
