What does romro add to this site besides bitching?

January 13, 2013 at 4:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterNot that Eric

No angle. No comedy value. Inability to use lowercase letters in handles. Overfapping minute man syndrome as witnessed by botched transitions from handle to handle (Not that Eric to Eric Reining to Helen Reining (very very creepy to go personal) to TxBall to Not that Eric. (with the period)) and typing deficiencies.

This is the same guy who Joey has already banned. He used to be Jim B., and Jay, Carlos, Scooby's Mom, Not That Eric, Eric Reining, and probably a whole litany of names that never stuck. He is, simply, the most interesting, sociopathic troll, ever.

I think Upton is a nice player but I wonder if he worth the price the D-Backs are asking?

This supposed trade with Seattle just looks fishy.

What are the chances of JD telling Arizona "I'm sorry I am no longer willing to do the previous trade we talked about" as it would appear that Arizona has just tried to game the system by a fake trade?

January 13, 2013 at 5:59 PM | Unregistered CommenterCosmo

An odd thought. Can teams still buy the contract of a player from another team directly?

Rather than offering prospects what happen if the Rangers just offered say 100,000,000 payable over 4 to 6 years to the D-Backs for Upton or the Marlins from Stanton?

I realize that teams trade players for prospects to rebuild a farm system but some teams (i.e. the Marlins) appear to have owners that might go for a deal like that as it would basically cover their payroll for two years

^Dodgers would love this.

Yes, a player can be traded for cash considerations. I'm not sure on the legalities of paying that debt across several years, but I'm sure it can be done.

When you start talking about that much cash though, these players become much less attractive when you consider you'd also be paying their own salaries.

It's amazinghow ignorant txball is. He is right about 20% of the time.

All transactions must go through MLB head office, and Selig has a right to reject any trade. Call it the Babe Ruth syndrome, which for its time was not far off from that concept. You have to consult baseball history books, but my recall is that the RedSox owner wanted to finance a Broadway musical, and many years/decades later this evolved into the 'Curse of the Bambino' for just selling Ruth to the Yankees in 1920. With other lop-sided trades [ actually sell offs], for example in the long past history of the Rangers [when the team was the Washington Senators], Clark Griffith the owner [ whose adopted son moved the original to Minnesota] was notorious for selling off his top talent for his own financial profit. So to cut this rambling short, in todays "equal plain" MLB = NO will never get past the MLB front office.

*Txball - sorry, just helping out the needy.

And just like that Carlos appears. How lame does a persons life have to be to spend so much of it as an online troll?

Oh please-please-please let the season start soon!!!!!!!!!!

I give up romroo-how lame does a persons life have to be to spend so much of it as an online troll? Inquiring minds would like to know.

I am a frequent visitor but a rare contributor. I don't know anything about WAR and stuff like that, but I am learning.....and I want to thank all of you! I have been a Texas Ranger fan since 1977, when I was 11 years old, and I live and die by this team ( I live in Nebraska, so my fandom is not geographical). Even when you all disagree, I learn stuff and that is why I frequent this board. GO RANGERS!

M Dar M, Carlos, etc...

whenever you get owned, changing your handle doesn't change the fact that you're by far the worst poster on this board. You get banned, disappear for a few, then come back and people can still easily identify you by your lack of quality posts/dumbass comebacks. I mean forget about all the generic insults being thrown your way about the lack of quality in your life...well, nevermind. Carry on.

“@jonmorosi: #Mariners and #DBacks have had talks with the #Tigers about acquiring Rick Porcello, sources say.”

If I'm Detroit, I'm offering Porcello, Castellanos and Berry for Upton. That would probably be the equivalent of Holland, Olt and Martin from us. Would we do it? Probably not. Would Detroit? Probably.

The power on that team would be insane and easily the best lineup in baseball. I couldn't even imagine.

Jackson-CF
Hunter-LF
Miggy-3B
Prince-1B
Upton-RF
Martinez-C
Dirks-DH
Peralta-SS
Infanta-2B

Scary.

Interesting but I don't see that happening. Would be the best lineup in baseball but dat defense. So bad.

January 14, 2013 at 2:06 AM | Unregistered CommenterTxball

I think Detroit is planning to use V-Mart as a full-time DH. I don't think he will play catcher very often.

This, BBTIA, use to be a place for "opinions" of some warranted viewing.
Lately it's becoming baseball snobberry and a grammer nazi decorum trist.

January 14, 2013 at 8:37 AM | Unregistered CommenterPT

@p1
I don't think Porcello is the equivalent of holland. Hollabd is a better pitcher with superior power stuff. Holland has a TORP ceiling IMO. Porcello doesn't.

The Tigers could use a right handed batter in left field, and perusing the Mariner players offered, would equate. But to seal the deal, switch Boesch for Berry. Actually is a way too much, so Detroit would need also back a pitching prospect, Holmberg would fit. Avila is behind the plate, switch the corner outfield positions [seniority rights in who plays right], also switch Martinez and Upton in the batting order, with Avila batting 7th in about 120 games, and you have the favorite for the AL Champs. Had even suggested in past post if situation arose, Detroit would be good landing place for Cruz, primarily because of a need for a right handed bat in left to platoon with Dirks.

The fact that the makeup/clown thing about Eric is true (and he admitted it) is the best thing to happen on this forum, ever. Absolutely hilarious.

I can now stop addressing Eric's opinion for the rest of my time on this forum because he is quite literally, a clown.

I was gonna post my thoughts on Holland but......
I'll come back some day when your not bogged down with drama

I have no shame, nothing to hide. If you want to discredit my opinions because I dressed up as Atmosphere from his Sad Clown, Bad Summer album for Halloween, then that's your own sad excuse. What's more sad is that you took the time to search my name on Facebook. Ha!

I try to stay away from personal attacks until they're first directed towards me, but I know the haters will keep hating. Maybe because I'm one who actually backs up my stances with legitimate statistical data, rather than simply throwing out baseless opinions to see what sticks.
