I wouldn't say Seattle isn't competition in the west. I think the four original west teams are all very strong, and have a chance for the playoffs. I do think Billy Beane has quietly done the best job of improving his team of anyone in the AL. The question is can the returning players repeat or even improve their performances from last season.

Seattle definitely looks a lot better this year. If guys like Montero break out, they could be pretty darn good. Still not sure why they got Jason Bay, though.
