Gtown
I'll bite he's got 2 or 3 yrs left on his contract (with the option) he's been HUGE both offensively and defensively. But he's getting older and had some injury issues allbeit minor issues but none the less.

"IF" we were going to trade him and AZ would want him "I think" he's worth upton plus a minor leaguer. But who the heck knows what Towers thinks?

Beltre is one of the 3-best 3B's in baseball, and he's relatively cheap for the going rate of superstars. He's coming off a 6.5 fWAR season, but given age/contract I don't think teams would load up the farm for him. I also don't think it's realistic AZ would be looking to take on his money.

Just a thought, Beltre would have greater value in Miami. But if you asked my opinion, I will still take Beltre over any one on the Marlins, even if he is entering his

Curious les, why do you think Beltre would have more value in Miami?

With LAD all loaded up I think AZ could go all in with Upton and Skaggs for Beltre or Beltre + 1

We should trade Beltre, E. Beltre and Luke Jackson for Stanton.

For the same reason Guillen was hired as Manager in 2012, and there was considerable talk of trading A. ROD, even at his current level of play. The Cuban-American baseball fan base is totally tired of Loria dumping good teams over the years, so at least have one superstar from the Islands. That need of a superstar, even on a bad team, is so crucial that it is my opinion why Giancarlos Stanton will/ can not be traded.

They had a whole team of superstars to start the 2012 season and still couldn't draw people through the gates.

Fandom follows winning, and I don't think the Marlins will be able to build a winning team by trading for Adrian Beltre.

You can't drop hundreds of millions of dollars on a few free agents and expect them to take a previously bad team to the championship. That almost never works. The Marlins tried it anyway, and they failed miserably. The Angels tried it last year and are trying it again this year, although their previous team was easily better than the Marlins'. Most teams that have experienced repeated successful seasons do it by building up a great team and then spending where appropriate to augment it. That's how the Rangers got to where they are now. That's how the Astros are going to be good again someday. I'd like to think Loria realized that and is going to have the team rebuilt, but I'm not holding my breath...

I think ATX was referring to Engle Beltre. My thought is that of it is truly time to see what the kids can do, then why not trade Beltre andake Olt the everyday 3rd base. If we didn't have to eat any contract Beltre for Upton would be close to a wash, the real get would be Skaggs.

Could you then imagine working out a deal with the Braves, something like Upton,Garcia and Perez for Heyward. That would give them the Brothers Upton and Leury could possibly slot into the hot corner by 2014. That would give us a young controllable power hitting Lefty. We would probably have to include some cash but I would be all over this.

1 Elvis ss/Profar
2 Profar 2nd/ Kinsler
3 Heyward rf/Cruz
4 Berkman dh/ Cruz/ Kinsler/ Profar
5 Kinsler 1b/ Olt/ Berkman
6 Murphy LF/ Heyward/Gentry
7 Olt 3b/ Kinsler
8 Peirzynski C/ Soto
9 Martin CF/ Gentry

I would look to move Cruz or Moreland since Morelands value is higher I assumed he would be traded when writing this lineup.
