What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Sorry to take up space on the forum for this, but a reminder, that the Rangers Fan Fest is this coming weekend at the Arlington Convention Center.....4 to 10:30 on Friday and 9 to 7 on Saturday.
Today's Rangers History lesson: at the Major League Fall Business Meetings in 1986, I heard the Chicago Cubs promotions people tell about this Cubs Fans Convention that they had some success with in 1986...I thought why not us....so in February of 1987, we became the second club in baseball to have a winter type of event for fans with the Rangers Winter Carnival....I thought we would have a couple of thousand that first time, we ended up with just over 6,000 for the one day event. I took a little of what I heard from the Cubs, a little bit of Mickey's Christmas Party at Disney World and little bit of the Country Music Fan Fair that I was part of in Nashville for several years and the Rangers Winter Carnival was born. It has gone through several transformations over the years, been done away with for awhile, brought back, etc. But the idea still is there to take a weekend in the winter and get folks to start thinking that its not too long before pitchers and catchers report.
Most of you know what goes on.....you can visit texasrangers.com for more details....but we have a good lineup of players coming in this week for Q & A sessions, autograph sessions, some clinics in the wiffle ball park and more. Lance Berkman will be there, A. J. Pierzynski is coming in along with most of the other regulars....Yu will be there Friday night, so I hope most of you will get a chance to come by this weekend.
I have to do a Q & A session with Joe Nathan Friday night at 5:30, then I have to be the announcer for the awards show, other than that, I will just be hanging around....so if you get a chance, please stop by, I would like to shake your hand and say thanks for your support.
Hope to see you at the Arlington Convention Center this weekend.
Thanks Chuck! Appreciate the info.
What happened to the card show that used to accompany this event, liked it much better back in the good old days!!!
Jeez Chuck, haven't you received the memo that forum posts are strictly reserved for ridiculous trade proposals, personal bashing of other posters, and otherwise nonsensical banter about how pathetic this offseason has been?
Been to 5 of last 6, plan again this year. Hope its not as bitterly windy chill cold as it was last year.
Ahhhhhhh baseball!!!!!! Looking forward to doing the wave again while cheering the Rangers on!!
Wait, this is a baseball forum?
There are lots of things you should probably worry about Mr Morgan (including Revenge of the Cookie Lady), but wasting space here isn't one of them.
ahhh the struggles of living to 3 hours away from D/FW...
I also live 3 hours away. D'oh.
Thanks for posting this, Chuck. Hoping for a great turnout.
Kirby one of the many issues that led to my departure to Kansas City in 2002 was a disagreement over the card show and the winter event. Since that time, I haven't been able to get collectors and us back together....maybe soon.
The Natural I am aware of what goes on here, I stop by daily, sorry to not follow the rules.
Tre 60 degrees on Saturday, we are opening up a portion of the ballpark for fans to get a view of the new construction
Procurion wave at your own risk, not a day goes by that I don't hear from wave fans that I am responsible for ruining their day at the ballpark by asking them to wave at another sport
The Henchman Not afraid of the Cookie Lady, she didn't bring cookies to the PA control room, she knows we would give her no in park promotion
Fajita wish I could help
well, maybe I could go with a speedo and some blue body paint instead of the wave...
^Orix Blue Wave? BOOOOOOOO
Thanks for the info, Chuck. We truly appreciate all the work you do for this great organization and thank you for being such a great (and involved) representative of the Rangers organization.
i'll be there and i'll try to come by and say hi chuck. thanks for all your hard work!
Taking my daughter and going to fan fest for the first time on Saturday. Look forward to it! One question...when they display on the TV monitor's (an hour before) which Ranger player is signing autographs...is it a chaotic stampede-like situation with 500 people running to get in that line before they close it? Should I have my 4 year old wear her bike helmet and knee pads? Or maybe safer to just get in autograph lines for the less popular players...probably doesn't matter too much anyway considering she told me her favorite Ranger pitcher is "New Starfish".
