Wow. Don't disagree with the overall point the writer makes, but two statements stand out that show he's not that familiar with these players:
"Hamilton is likely to be an above average defender in right field."
Three years ago maybe, but the 2012 Josh Hamilton showed no "above average" defensive anything. Moving him to RF will help but he's a downgrade from 2012 Torii Hunter and I suspect he'll be AT BEST and average RF.
"Hamilton’s defensive value was a bit limited to the Rangers, in that keeping him in the outfield would have likely forced a decent defender (say, Nelson Cruz) to occupy the DH spot"
Nelson Cruz a "decent defender"? I guess it depends on your definition of "decent" but to Cruz is a borderline black hole at RF; great arm but zero range.

Your second point is the heaviest portion of the article I believe. I do think that Hamilton's ZiPS projections will play out as true, and that the production they got from Tori Hunter will be sorely missed.

Right fielders are rarely great fielders. That's usually where hitters who can't field go to be hidden. Therefore, Josh does rate as above average fielding wise, but has a below average arm for right field. I expect people to go 1st to third on him all day. That's the value of Cruz is that in the off chance he actually tracks down a ball and fields it cleanly he can take the extra base away from the other team.

"Rarely... " Surely Colt, your talking about a/yourweekend co-ed beer softball league?
That's as bush a statement as I've read in here.

Dwight Evans played a great right field. Usually the place for a great arm.

The HOF is tipped towards RF's that were defensively superior than thier OF piers.
They're usually the 3-4-5 tool players. Even Vlady was once great in that RF corner.
Inane statement colt. I could name plenty of great RF's and quite a few playing now.
LMAO, beer league, Good one.

Jon Heyman, "[the] Rangers [are] still looking for more after adding Berkman. MBourn, JUpton, Kyle Lohse could be in play"
Heres hoping...

The title scared me into reading it. He makes some excellent points here. Especially the point about what the Angels are paying the extra money for.
