Forum > Bullpen Complete?

Pablo, every year every team signs 'rejects and retreads', a few may actually do well, but the intent is not so much to be there at the major league level, but to have a competitive AAA team. AA is often made up of your young talent, AAA is something different. A clue is that look at the top talent in the majors, and a majority of the time it comes from AA [ ie Beltre, Garcia, Olt Profar. etc.]. But an organization still has a AAA roster to fill out, and a signing perk is 'an invitation to spring training'. This accounts for the signing of: Balestar, Cotts, Meek, Olsen, Wells. Some have actually had MLB success, as pointed out Meek. And sometimes it is worth well to stash them at AAA. For example, what ever EL Hombre made this one point, it would be nice to still have O'Day and especially Pedro Strop. But that can be said by every team. A bull pen, where seldom is there less than 10 pitchers used during a season, and Oliver gets his wish of: right side- Nathan, Soria, eventually Feliz, Lindblom, Frasor, Scheppers, Tateyama, possibly even Ogando [depending on future trades/fa signings] and from the left- Kirkman, Oliver, Perez, Ross will do okay. JD did want to bring if not Adams, then at least Uehara back, but delayed too long over dealing with Josh.

Gotta go with Pablo on this, our BP is going to be full of guys with huge question marks. Even Soria and Feliz, even if those guys do come back healthy this year, it generally takes at least a year or two before pitchers are as effective as they were before TJ surgery. Believe me, I'm a HUGE JD fan, what that man has accomplished for this team and it's fan base the last 5 years is nothing short of phenominal. That being said, however, I'm very uncomfortable with this years team. A LOT of things are gonna have to break just right for us to win this division. I do still believe that we have a solid shot at the wild card though. One more thing, the offseason is not over yet guys, JD has pulled off some pretty amazing tricks in January the last few years, not giving up hope for the year just yet.
