Forum > Bullpen Complete?
Dont forget Hottovoy (sp?). He could be a solid lefty arm
Romeo212000
Soria probably won't be ready right out of the gate, either, and I doubt he'll be used in high-leverage situations until, hopefully, he begins to look like himself pre-surgery.
This looks a bit like our bullpen as it started in 2011.
Andy
Should be Scheppers and Kirkman, Also think Wash will give Cotts every chance to make the Opening 25. Until injured the week before opening day last year, had made the team. A related sidebar, does anyone know anything on Mark Lowe?

i know he stinks

El Hombre, who is Bonilla?
arnrob
Bonilla was a young pitcher in the Mike Young trade that TEX received.

If I'm gambling on the long man, I'd bet JD signs another low-risk #6 type vet to compete for the last rotation spot. Loser between him, Grimm & Kirkman join Perez in AAA while the other two try to keep a sub 5.00 ERA until Colby comes back.
Speaking of Colbra, didn't we hear optimistic reports he'd be stretched out by late May?

Romeo,
Hottovy sounds intriguing, forgot about him.

Don't forget NRI's Evan Meek and Randy Wells. Meek was pretty decent for PIT before his injury, and he prob starts the year in RR in the mix for the closer job along with Yan, Font, and Mendez. Randy Wells will prob start the year at the backend of RR's rotation.
Like that Frasor and Soria have a lot of closing experience between them. Nathan will need the odd day off.

Wish we could have signed Brett Myers because of his SP/RP versatility. Indians got him for just a 1 year deal plus club option but I guess we have to wait to see how much $$.

MLB Trade Rumors just posted Oliver wants a raise to play in Toronto or be traded to the Rangers. I'd love to have him back. Would help having another lefty and he had a great season last year.
P1 Stefen
We could do worse than Oliver, I suppose. But my last memory of him as a Ranger isn't good...
Andy
He needs redemption, but he had a SOLID 2012 campaign. If he could harness that for 3.5 or 4 mil, id love him back.

@ El Hombre: I'm curious by your "I'm impressed with what the FO has been able to do here." comment? What exactly has impressed you? I'm not playing devils advocate here... or arguing to pick a fight but JD and co.have signed a guy (Soria) to take over for Nathan in 2014, which essentially means they paid their 2014 closer $8M, which is probably a good deal these days.
Other than Soria, JS has added nothing but a bunch of rejects and retreads/journeymen. Now, if his plan all along was to add some low cost/low risk guys to stir up come competition with the younger guys like Scheppers, Grimm, Font, etc.. that's fine... but be careful with your expectations with this bullpen because on paper, it sucks! It would be a totally different story if Feliz and Ogando were in there but they aren't, and unless JD pulls a rabbitt out his ass, this is not going to be a very good bullpen.
Again, not trying to be Negative Nancy but mark my words, the bullpen will be the weak link of this team.
I read something about Lance Berkman and the Rangers. Is he worth a 1yr $8M deal? I think that if he's healthy and becomes our true, full time DH, he might put up huge numbers. With that said, Wash might have to spend more time managing personalties than the game. Can you imagine dealing with both AJ and Berkman after a 4 game losing streak? Yikes!
Pablo
I agree Pablo. The BP is going to get worn out, if we get banged early & often.
Our bench and position rotations will look like the Wheel of Fortune on steroids.
Wash better learnt that NEW Fangled Tech Casio Calculator. Yeah, it's Digital.
No RW, it won't ring to the BP.
Hubz
Pablo,
Go root for the fuckin Angels or Yankees or something. What a pathetic ignorant rant. If you don't appreciate what this team and this organization is about just go away.
The reality is that JD has done a decent job securing quality talent for the bullpen while dumbass teams are spending 20 million dollars for a reliever for three years.
You know what Pablo? I don't even have to prove what I'm saying because it is obvious how utterly wrong you are. JD is such a ninja with bullpen shit that he not only supplied an excellent bullpen in Texas last year but also in Baltimore.
JD had so many rejects and journeymen on his hands, as you call them, that he singlehandedly supplied two elite bullpens for two big league clubs last year.
I realize you will come up with some pathetic response. Some mark my words bullshit but who is listening? Not I, and not anyone with half a brain because anyone with half a brain knows what JD has assembled are not the pathetic lot that you describe.
If you want big spending GM's who just write dumbass checks go root for the Angels or the Yankees or the new idiot on the block Dodgers. They are awesome spenders. They really know how to money whip overvalued talent and then fall on their faces.
This has been a message from El Hombre. Don't fuck with El Hombre Pablo. Don't fuck with El Hombre.
El Hombre
pablo's post was completely calm & rational & made plenty of sense, not ignorant or even a rant really. el hombre you're way overreacting & come off as a terrible person

Muchisimas gracias for this new title.
You should at least have the balls to identify your self, OBSERVER, if my post was terrible as you said.
Moral courage or something.....to defend the helpless and abused.
Yes, I was probablemente excessively direct with la verdad, perro Yo soy el hombre, the terrible.
How can I deny my nature? You on the other hand are a pathetic faceless OBSERVER.

Couldn't care less about the rest of the rant, but that's some pretty terrible Spanish when a gringo like me has to call it out. Carry on.

Am I missing anyone? Do you guys think this bullpen is complete keeping in mind Soria wont be ready for opening day? Or are there more moves that the FO is going to make to lock down proven talent?
I'm impressed with what the FO has been able to do here.
