Forum > BERKMAN TO THE RANGERS?

Most recent MLB. RUMOR post suggest Lance Berkman is leaning toward playing in 2013, and the article suggest the Rangers are a top fit. Knowing the Rangers need a #3 hole replacement for Hamilton, IS Lance Berkman an excellent option?

If they do sign him, which I can get on board with, it's strictly as a platoon/bench bat. His days as a three hole hitter are long gone.

He'd likely take away at bats from Olt and Profar. To me, it all depends on how they feel about those two. If they think they're big league ready right now, then no. If they think they need a little more time in AAA then I can get on board with signing him.

Berkman and AJP on the same team. Well we'd favored for the douchiest FA signing class of 2013.

I told you guys about Berkman three weeks ago! The signing of Pena in Houston shut that door to Berkman. Berkman can still rake as a lefthanded hitter and the homerun porch at the Ballpark is taylor made for him. He should be much cheaper than Laroche, and will not cost a draft pick! You can pack a Berkman contract with numerous incentives that his ego will not be able to pass up.
